I have only owned Chevy pickup trucks. My Z71 is finally paid off, and I wanna get a nice SUV. I have looked at the Equinox’s and love em! Ive never owned anything but a truck and dont know if Id like one or not. What is your opinion on them and goin from a big 4×4 pickup to a small SUV?

A: I just got a Chevy Equinox a few weeks ago. It only has a 6 cylinder, so it will get much better gas MPG than your pickups, but you can’t be towing massive things like your Z71

The interior is nice, the ride is smooth, and so are the shifts.

For an SUV, its a fun car to drive. But unlike other Chevy SUVs, the Equinox is not designed for offroad.

Q: How do I lift the rear seat up on a 2005 Chevy Equinox to access the battery?
I need to lift the seat “up” not fold it down. In order to access the battery which is under the seat of my 2005 Chevy Equinox, but I have been unable to find out how. There is one big lever under the seat, but I cannot use it to lift the seat up. Perhaps it is jammed? Thanks for your help!

A: Under the seat,,,,,,hmmmmmm. Mine was under the hood. All that’s under my backseat is some old M&M’s, and a few pennies.

A: There is a slight chance that it could be the same transmitter, but even if it is ,it will have to be taken to a dealership that has a Tech 2 device to program it. Some dealerships will do it for free ,while others have a slight charge

A: Out of the GM brand I think Chevy is one of the better build quality ones. But still buy Japanese.

i removed the factory stereo from my chevy equinox 06 and people were telling me that when removing it i would lose features without replacing it with the right harness that has the chimes

the guy told me it lost the check engine light but i think that he just wanted to sell me the 150 dollar wire harness with the little chime adaptar

I just purchased GM Accessory cross rails for my 2008 chevy Equinox and the instructions are unclear. The instructions say to use a flat tool to take the end cap rail off, but it does not show or say how or where to use the tool on the end cap. Does anyone know of any tricks to getthis off? Thanks!

A: There is a good chance the dealer that sold you your equinox will install your cross rails for free.The dealers prep mechanic can install your rails in about five minuites.Please call you sales person and they can help you with your rails.Best of luck with your equinox.

A: Well lets see my Service manager’s bought one for his daughter and my used car manager bought one for his wife. We don’t have a you must buy GM rule in our store so if a used car manager and service manager both bought them its a good sign. We have had few problems with them and I have seen a few bad accidents that the people inside came out fine but it totaled the Equinox. They crash test well I would say buy it.

My 2005 Chevy Equinox heater will not turn on. The blower doesn’t turn on. What fuses and relays should I start with? Any suggestions? Thank you

A: first check your fuses if those are good
check your heater core, if thats not it then check your blower motor..

Q: Why do I have a weird noise coming from the passenger side door speakers of my Chevy Equinox?
There is a static noise, similar to white noise, constantly emitted through the speakers in the passenger’s side door of my Chevy Equinox. Even with the speakers turned all the way down this happens. It gets louder with acceleration and is very annoying. Is something grounding my system out somewhere??? How would I find it? What could it be? The system is all factory – no aftermarket. WTF? thanks

A: From your description it sounds like your audio system is picking up motor noise/interference but why it’s only going to the right side and not all speakers isn’t clear. And I cannot account for how this could happen at all with the “speakers turned all the way off.” No noise at all should be heard if the speakers are truly “off”. Something may be damaged. But static getting louder with acceleration is most likely caused by the alternator or engine coil. After checking all the connections and grounds, I’d start there by getting filters for your alternator and the power line into your system. As you are checking the connections and wires, make sure no wiring is routed near wires and devices that emit RF interference like a heater motor or vehicle computer, etc. The PDF link is more detailed,

Q: Check Engine Light on a 2005 Chevy Equinox?
I own a 2005 Chevy Equinox and recently, a gas attendant broke the gas cap while trying to close it. It took about a week before I could get a new one to replace it and in the mean time, the check engine light came on due to a lack of vacuum pressure. The Light has been on for 1 week now and I know that eventually, it will reset itself but I would rather not wait. Does anyone know a quick way to reset the light that doesn’t involve going to the dealer?

A: You can always disconnect the battery for 1 minute, that usually resets everything – including your clock.

Q: Anyone know the towing capability for a Chevy Equinox?
I’m looking at at some smaller SUVs but have been disappointed with the very small towing cap. The Hyundai Santa Fe has been the favorite so far–with towing package its at 5,000 lbs. Neither the boat I currently have or a boat I can imagine purchasing in the next 5-6 yrs will be that much. Even without the towing pkg, it can still tow 3500 lbs.

But the Hondas max out at around 2,000–which might be too light. Jeeps tow fine but I hate driving a Jeep. Anyone know about the Chevy Equinox? With or without the tow pkg–both would be helpful. Thx.
