A great article on Ford Mustangs

Q: Ford Mustangs?
Hope everyone is doing good tonight. I am planning on buying my soon a 2000-2004 ford mustang for this 17th birthday. If anyone knows anything about these cars can you give me some advice. Is it a good car? good on gas. etc.. Any information would be greatly appreciated. thank you

A: They are great cars. They have good safety ratings and good reliability ratings. You are a awesome Dad/Mom for buying your son a mustang for his birthday. I remember how important a car was to me at that age so once I turned 22 years old and got a real job as a firefighter I set aside a savings account so I can buy my kid a car (when I have kids) when he/she turns 16 years old. You know your son better then anyone else, if you believe your son can handle the responsibilities of handling a car with the power of a v8, and you (or him) can handle paying the higher insurance costs, then you should get him the v8. According to consumer reports and jd power it has better reliability scores then the v6. In addition, its a mustang, the v8s are just a lot cooler. If you think you kid might not be able to handle the power of a v8 car and might be reckless then get the v6. As far as gas mileage goes there really is not a big difference between the two, the v8 gets very good mileage. I think its around 18/25 or something. I will leave a link below that does a very good job reviewing a 2004 mustang. I had to buy my own mustang, it took me 8 years of saving up for it but I could not be happier.
Additional info—–
The people that say fords fall apart are people that are not using facts to support there satements. Ford was rated the #1 American car manufacturer according to reliability and the #3 manufacturer in the world according to reliability, GM (chevy) and Chrysler (dodge) were towords the bottom. Other then Honda, Ford was the only Manufacturer in the world not to have a single one of its vehicals receive a rating of below average. Some of the companys that do the reliability ratings even put Ford at #2 ahead of Toyota and below Honda. See consumer reports, JD power, or any of the other companies that rate reliability. Im sure you saw about 3 months ago, Ford was all over the news for surpassing Nissan in reliability and Toyota in some sources. Ford has been ahead of GM (chevy) and Chrysler (dodge) for many years now.

Q: ford mustangs???????????????
i’m turning 16 soon and my parents are looking at 2007/2008 ford mustangs, i’m not sure which one. i really like the way they look inside and outside. are they good cars for me? and are there hard top convertible versions or just canvas?
i am definately not a crazy driver. i’m very careful and i don’t try and do stupid things to show off like gun it when take off. my friends mom has a mustang and that’s the car that she learned to drive in, so i’m guessing it’s not too difficult to handle the power of it.

A: I allowed my son to drive my 1969 Dodge Dart as his first car in 96.and I told him to respect the power or he can’t drive. This car had a 440 engine with lots of power,so what I’m saying is it’s all up to you,can you be responsible or stupid

Q: Are Ford Mustangs considered to be drivable In the winter?
Are Ford Mustangs considered to be drivable In the winter? If so under what conditions and if not why not?

A: yup, i drive mine all year round in michigan. I have a summer and winter set of rims/tires. Winter tires i use all seasons on front and snow tires in back with 2 to 4 bags of salt and i have no problem. Yea i still slide a little but not as bad as it was without weight and snow tires. A lot of it has to do with your driving habits, Ive driven mine for 5years now and know exactly how my car reacts to the snow, icy and slush and so i change my driving style to fit whats needed.

Q: Will the value of older versions of Ford Mustangs decrease once the 2010 Mustang is released?
Would the value of the older versions of Ford Mustangs (Such as the 99-04 Mustangs) decrease once the new 2010 Ford Mustang has been released? I’m looking forward to purchasing a 99-04 Ford Mustang sometime in the future and I was just curious about my theory.

Help is truly appreciated!

A: Older models always depreciate when a new one is released. Remember also that they will continue to get older and depreciation always increases with age. Consider an 05-09?

Q: are the new ford mustangs good or bad cars?
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the ford mustangs 2005-2008 are good cars. i have been asking friends, half said, “Yes they are great cars”, while others say “Theyre shitty Cars!” I just wanted to know because I am thinking of getting one in not to distant future.

A: There is no real down side to the 05-08 v8 mustangs. According to consumer reports and jd power they all have “better then average” overall reliability and repair history. There is not a new car you can buy for the same amount of money or less that is as fast as they are. They look great. That pretty much covers it all, great reliability, great speed, and great looks. Like I said, if you stick with the facts, there really is no down side to them.

Q: Why is it that Ford Mustangs go fast in a straight line but do poor going through turns?
Why is that and why hasn’t ford fixed this problem after all these years of revamping the Mustang?

A: I am assuming that you have never owned a Mustang and are just repeating what you have heard from others who haven’t owned one.

My 2000 GT, shod with Goodyear Eagles, will understeer slightly on high speed turns, change to a drift with a little more throttle, and hang the back end out with a little more throttle. This is as it should be and is perfect for a vehicle of that size and weight.

My previous car, an 86 GT would behave in a similar fashion, with side traction so tight, that for safety sake, throttle application in a bend was necessary to drift the rear end to prevent a roll over. The car would flip over before spinning out on dry pavement if care wasn’t taken to break traction a little. There are plenty of pictures from back in the day with one of these Mustangs on 3 or 2 wheels in a corner.

Sorry to contradict the “experts”, but from the mid 80’s on, the Mustang GT or other Mustangs with handling packages are just about perfect in the handling department for someone who KNOWS how to drive.

Q: How many types of trims is there for the Ford Mustangs?
I want to know how many diffrent kinds of ford mustang trims is there.

Q: How do I manualy disarm a 1996 Ford mustangs pats system?
I recived a 1996 Ford mustang from a soldier who was going down range. He had lost the key to the mustang and sold it to me. I removed the ignition and tried to start the vehicle, but the anti theft system prevents me from doing so. How can i remove the system, without having to have it towed to a dealership? I assure you the vehicle belongs to me. Not trying to steal it.

A: You are going to need the Ford dealer code reader and a pair of keys. They will be able to get the PATS system to like the new keys. If you go ahead and do two keys you can add more keys later. The PATS system is part of the engines computer so it isn’t going anywhere. When I bought new keys got them from a guy on ebay for 13 dollars each, and they came in a Ford baggy

Q: What do you think of 2000 Ford Mustangs?
I am looking for a car and I think I may have found a good one. Its a 2000 Ford Mustang with a V6. Do you know anything about these cars? Are they mechanically sound? I do not car if you like the style, just if the car will last. I also do not care about power, I am trying to get the smaller 6 cylinder engine for gas mileage.

Thank you for your time, have a great day.

A: V6 Mustangs especially the 2000 and up are pretty good cars overall. Ford has not had the best transmission history, but the 2000 mustang wasn’t known as a car with a real problematic tranny. If it’s got a 5 speed manual, that tranny is pretty bullet proof, other than a clutch at some point you should never have to monkey with it. I’ve had a number of these cars and sold them all with good reviews from the customer.

Now that doesn’t mean the car you are going to look at isn’t a POS. If you don’t know anything about cars, it would be well worth your while to have a real mechanic take a look at it for you. Also check if the front tires match the back tires for brand name and model, if they don’t it’s because someone was either not rotating tires at all or more likely burning the rears off, just cuz it’s a 6 doesn’t mean it won’t burn a rear tire off.

Another con to the 00 stang they do suck in winter driving, especially if there is over 3 inches of snow on road, good luck with it. The traction control available on these cars almost makes them worse in the deeper snow, you can turn it off, and you can also add weight to the trunk for a bit of help but as I said, good luck in the snow if you get any.

If you want gas mileage although the v6 Mustang is okay, there are cars out there with decent horsepower that will get you better mileage than a Mustang, but truly you should buy what you want.

You want a few real world prices, I sold a 00 stang v6 auto with 64k earlier this year for 5800, an 02 v6 auto w/leather with 57k miles and I got 6700, and a 96 v6 with 75k miles that I sold at an auction for 3600.

Hope I helped.

Q: How many 1999 Ford mustangs convertiables where manufacted w/ a white top.?
I have an 1999 yellow ford mustang with a white convertiable top. I have done research and only find older ones. I need to know how many where made in this year. It is an anniversary edition V6. I have not found any with a white tops yet. I want to know how many where made.

A: 2,540 with the white top , most were black.

Q: Anyone know of a mechanic that specializes in old (1966) Ford Mustangs in GVRD?
I have a 1966 Ford Mustang and I want to find a mechanic that specializes in older mustangs and does good work. Time is not important to do the work, but cost is a factor.
I need a mechanic that will slowly help me in restoring the mechanical components of the vehicle.
Any contact information would be helpful.
Thanks.

A: Go out to Mission Raceway , I am sure you will find a lot of Ford freaks and some Mustang Motorheads out there , just because it is a dragstrip does not mean that is all they do .

Q: Are Ford Mustangs really bad in the rain?
I’m looking at purchasing a 2005/2006 Ford Mustang and I’ve heard they are horrible in the rain (since they are rear wheel drive). But a lot of cars out there are rear wheel drive and do fine in the rain. Is it true that Mustangs are horrible in the rain? All information is appreciated! Thanks. :)

A: No they handle just as well if not better than most other commuter cars out there. However the Stock tires that come on the Mustangs in 2005-2009 are Pirrelli Pzeros and are not the best rain tires they are an all season tire made to give you a generally good ride all year round. If you are in an area that gets allot of rain and still want to drive a Mustang I would suggest putting on a set of tires that are made for that sort of thing. I tend to like the Goodyear Assurance.

Q: how are ford mustangs on gas?
I’m planning on buying a ford mustang, but before I do that I want to research how they are on gas.

A: My son in law has the six and got 31 on a trip..

Q: Are the new Ford Mustangs reliable cars?
I’ve never owned a Ford Mustang, but I think they look pretty cool. Especially the Shelby 500 Ford Mustangs. My question is…Are the Ford Mustangs reliable sports cars? I just want to know becuause if I’m willing to spend $40,000 on a car, I want to know that I get a quality, reliable vehicle that I can enjoy for years. I’d like to hear input from people who either own a Mustang or know people who own them. Thanks!

A: Absolutely get any type of Mustang! I have a 2006 Mustang. I love it, and I drive it all the time. Everywhere I go people always tell me how nice my car is and that they wish they could have one. A couple of my friends have older Mustangs with more miles on their cars, and they have had no problems at all with it. I would without a doubt buy a Mustang. You will enjoy driving it. No question about it! Sometimes I have no place to go, so I just get in and drive. That’s how much I love driving it! I know a few people that have the Shelby, and they say that it’s incredible. The suspension isn’t the best, but for the average person it would be fine. Although $40,000 approx. is the value of the car, I know a dealership in my area that rips people off! They buy Shelbys from other local dealerships and sell them for about $80,000! Obviously don’t buy one that overpriced. Anyway, I’m happy with my Mustang, and I think I’ll have it for many years to come… Actually, FOREVER! :-)

Q: How much will the price on the 2005-2006 ford mustangs v6 drop??
How much will the price on the 2005-2006 ford mustangs v6 drop when the new 2008 models come out?
It would be my first car and parents don’t want that much horsepower and to pay for that much insurance.

A: $420 a week until it is sold
