Ford

A great article on Ford

Q: Ford???????????????!!!!?
will ford stocks keep climbing??

A: No – it is near its 5 year high and all the good news is factored in.

Q: FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
What were two good things Gerald ford did during his presidency?

A: He gave good leadership to his country

He maintained the status quo internationally in a difficult time

Q: ford???????
i want to know why people who like fords think they are so bad a** and they always run their mouth to CHEVY owners ( i know tons of answers i just want to hear yours)

A: Ford owners run their mouths trying to look good because they have a lot of time to think of what they are going to say to the Chevy owners while their cars are in for repairs. Ford owners hate all GM owners because stock, the only Ford that can beat a stock GM is a Mustang Cobra, not even the GT500 could beat a Z28 Camaro. Of course, if the Ford owner actually babied their car like the GM owner does and then built it up, then maybe the Ford would beat the GM and they woul finally have room to run their mouths a little more. From experience, the only Ford that has beat my 13 second WS-6 was an SVO Mustang (turbo charged).

Q: How common and interchangeable are Ford parts?
I am living in Chile and I am in the process of buying a Ford Escape 2008 petrol 2.3. However, I will be moving to South Africa later this year, and I was planning to take the vehicle. I learned that Ford South Africa does not sell Ford Escape but sells instead Ford Territory and Ford Ranger. How common are the parts of Ford Escape with the other Ford ranges available in Africa and how easy will be to source parts?

A: It depends on the parts you are looking for. Any petrolium burning 2.3L Ford engine will interchange parts almost 100% based on the production run of the engine. If the engine was built in 2008 than almost any 2.3L from 2005-present should interchange parts very readily. suspension componants tend to differ from model to model so it would be difficult to find parts such as control arms and things of that nature. The brake system may have the same componants as the ranger or territory but you would have to research that in great detail and make sure the part numbers are EXACTLY the same. Hope that helps.

Q: Is is recommended to buy used FORD Sedan when FORD is struggling with bailout?
I am a student in Florida. I am planning to buy a used Ford Focus. I am not sure whether to buy a Ford Sedan when Ford, GM are struggling for their survival. If Ford goes out of business will I still be able to maintain my vehicle by a local mechanic or some repair shop.

A: Most parts on new vehicles are not made by the vehicle manufacturer themselves, but by other companies that supply them. The manufacturer puts these parts together and makes a car. If a car company were to go out of business, these suppliers would still be able to provide replacement parts, and other companies would also provide aftermarket versions ot the parts.

Even if a car company was to go bankrupt, that bankruptcy would be a reorganization, not a liquidation. They would still be in business.

Dealers are independent business. If the company were to close (not likely) the dealer could still exist as a private shop. Other shop can also work on your vehicle, so you have nothing to fear there.

Do not let fear of the future of the auto industry keep you from buying the car that suits your needs.

Q: How come Ford does not require an immediate bailout in contrast to the other Big 2?
I understand that Ford will obviously be affected if the other two go under but is Ford more diversified than then the other two that it has other sources of income?
Perhaps they are better organized financially?

A: Honestly Ford may have been the only one to see the market and bank crash coming. Either that or it was a huge lucky break. Either way they benefit (or likely suffer less) while everybody including foreign companies suffer.

A few years ago they mortgaged everything they own to get some extra cash just in case.

Chrysler was still owned by Daimler who had no interest in creating a profitable company so even if they saw it coming they did nothing. They just used Chrysler profits from the 90’s to rebuild Mercedes.

Honda, Toyota, VW, and Hyundai are all in the process of building new plants in the US yet stuck idling the plants they have because of low demand. They obviously didn’t see it coming either.

Q: Ford Ranger: How do I reset the computer for the check engine light?
I recently replaced my EGR valve in my ‘95 Ford Ranger and yet the check engine light still comes on. I unhooked the battery cables for 15 minutes which caused the light to go off, but it came back on after about an hour of driving. What else is there to do?

A: Well, since you’ve already installed the EGR valve you’ve puchased from Auto Zone, the option of returning the part for a refund is no longer viable. But, I would bet the farm your EGR valve WASN’T the problem. More likely it was the DPFE sensor that needed replaced, NOT the EGR valve. This sensor is either an aluminum bodied rectangular shaped sensor with two rubber hoses and a three wire electrical connector connected to it, or a black pastic sensor if it has already been replaced before. This is a VERY commonly failing part on ALL Ford products. You would need to purchase it from the Ford dealer parts department. Just ask for part number F77Z-9J460-AB at the counter to get the part you need. Hope this helps.

Q: 1996 ford exploree sputters then it kills on start up what could be the problem?
1996 ford exploree sputters then it kills on start up what could be the problem? I have already changed the fuel pump alittle while back could that still be the problem ?

Q: Can a 1997 v6 ford mustang automatic transmission fit in a 1995 mustang?
My son want to put a 1997 ford transmission in his ford mustang, his is a 1995. The mustangs are V6.

A: An auto salvage yard has cross-referencing books and can probably answer your question. Yellow pages under “Auto Parts–Used”.

Best regards,
Mike

Q: How much would a old ford tailbed be worth?
I was in my horse field yesterday and I found a old blue Ford tailbed, it has some rust on it and it still says ford on it and everything. How much do you think it would be worth?

A: You mean tailgate? If so, Probably around $50 in decent shape.

Q: What is the difference between the ford escort lx and the ford escort zx2?
I am looking at a 2003 ford escort. but i am not sure which one it is? I found it on the internet and it does not say. Besides the look, is there any other difference in the two cars?

A: Yes, the Escort LX is the 4-door sedan. A 2003 model was not sold to the public, but it was sold to rental car companies.

The ZX2 is a 2-door model with a much sportier appearance, but the mechanicals (engine and transmission) are the same as the Escort LX.

As far as ‘pieces of crap’ these cars have Mazda engines and transmissions, which were developed and built in Japan (at least the trannys are). IMHO I don’t believe Mazdas are crap. I have an Escort and it is a very reliable car with good gas mileage.

We sold a lot of Escorts where I come from…

Q: What are the character differences between Ford enthusiasts and Holden enthusiasts in Australia?
The rivalry between Holden and Ford is apparently a tradition in Australia. The two cars are incredibly similar though, at least for someone who has grown up in Europe, like me (I mean, come on, take a huge, generic car with a trailer hitch and a V8, and it could easily qualify as either brand).
What makes a Ford person, and what makes a Holden person, in Australia?
We know there are Elvis people and Beatles people (the former being more soulful, the latter more intellectual, if my intuition is anything to go by).
Any theories?

A: When the rivalry occurred was when the makes were vastly different and was generally based on engine size and performance. The major comp between the 2 is the Bathurst 1000 race. No different to supporting different teams in football. It’s all competition.

Q: How much would a ford v8 small block cost to rebuild?
I have a Ford V8 351C small block engine, it’s starting to reach 100,000 miles, and I am looking to rebuild the engine, what should I be paying to get this done?
Well big problems, 351C 100,000 miles, about to throw a connecting rod through the block!

A: A lot of answers and none too good. The cost will depend on what you have done and what parts you replace. If this engine is in a “classic” do NOT replace it with an engine from some parts store. It would not be a correct date code unit for your vehicle and would effect the value. You can spend a lot if you intend on doing performance upgrades or less if you want it stock. Check prices at a local machine shop and parts store to see what your specific build will run.

Q: After driving my 97 ford Ranger for several miles and shutting down the engine, I have to wait 5 min to restar
After driving my 97 Ford Ranger for several miles and shutting down the engine, I have to wait five/ten minutes before it will restart. This only happens once ever so often (one out of ten times) . What’s causing this. It acts like the old days of vapor lock.

A: I’d suspect it’s the charcoal canister and it’s plugged up. That allows the fuel tank to vent and you might have some negative pressure in the tank, not allowing the fuel pump to pump fuel into the engine. Next time that happens, unhook the hoses that goes to the canister (under the hood) and see if that helps. Get a replacement and you’re GTG.
