A great article on Jeep Wranglers

Q: Jeep Wranglers?
How much mileage can you typically get out of a well kept jeep wrangler?
by mileage I mean, total mileage… 100,000..250,000.. the altogether sum before it breaks down
by mileage I mean, total mileage… 100,000..250,000.. the altogether sum before it breaks down

A: I restore and sell jeeps as a hobby Ive had many of them go thru my hands with high mileage and still run great. the highest Ive seen was a buddy of mine who had 250000 miles on his. basically you can not kill the 4.0 six cylinder or 2.5 4 cylinders in those things. the basic thing to remember is to just keep up your basic maintenance and take care of the motor.

Q: How long do Jeep Wranglers really last for?
I recently just bought 2000 Jeep wrangler Sahara, she has 90K on her. I heard the body will start to rust before the engine and its parts. It has the inline 6 cylinder, from what i heard one of the best engines? Are wranglers really that reliable? How long do they usually last before you need to start putting work into them?

A: I have a 2000 wrangler with the 4 liter straight 6. 157k miles, I have replaced the radiator and some seals on the differential. Nothing else besides the usual. Brakes, oil, tires etc. Very reliable still in great shape.I absolutely love it.

Q: What are the dimensions of a jeep wranglers trunk?
I think i might be getting a jeep wrangler
but i will be driving with my top down the majority of the summer..
but i am planning on putting leaving my longboard in my jeep

I will just lock the trunk and keep it in there
but will it fit???

What are the dimensions of a jeep wranglers trunk??

A: Well if you have the top down there is no trunk to lock anything up with unless you get the insta-trunk. It is basically a locking top you buy that attaches to the tub behind the back seat.

http://www.quadratec.com/products/14147_03_07.htm

But either way, a longboard will not fit in the back of a wrangler. I looked up longboards and they are around 41″ long. I just went out and measured the length in the back of my wrangler and it is only 36″ across. It is about 9″ wide so it would fit width wise but not length wise.

You might fit one in if you have an Unlimited. They have a larger space behind the back seat and it might fit if you put it in at an angle.

Q: Is there any available stereo wiring harnesses or install dash mounts for 2007 Jeep Wranglers?
I was told that Scosche did not offer any aftermarket stereo wiring harnesses or any stereo mounting kits for the new Jeep Wranglers due to the fact that the factory stereo’s wiring was completely different than previous models. Is this true and is there any company that might be up to speed with producing a harness or mounting kit at this time. Also, would this be available soon?

A: How’s it going? I hope this site will help you find the answer your looking for. My best friend works here. All you have to do is click your type of vehicle, model, and year. Then you can see the dash kits wiring harness and whatever is available. I hope this helps.

http://www.metraonline.com/vehicleguide.aspx

Q: Do 2009 Jeep Wranglers include a tool to remove the screws of the hard-top?
… or you will need to provide your own tools? Any particular stuff the dealer must include with new Jeeps Wranglers? I bought a 2k9 Wrangler Sahara and just included the t-top sleeve as an accessory. 1st car I buy/1st jeep I have!

A: Got a 2009 Wrangler Unlimited myself, and yes, you can use the torex key which came with your manuals. Personally, I have purchased a small ratchet wrench from a pawn shop and went to Lowe’s for the torex socket, it makes it allot easier. Can’t remember the size, but I think it was a “10″. Good Luck

Q: How long do 4 cylinder Jeep Wranglers last?
Hey all i was wondering how long the 4 cylinder Jeep Wranglers last? 2000-2004. I’m interested in getting one, Manual transmission, but i have been having a hard time finding a 6 cyl in my area. Thanks

A: The key is proper care. If you abuse it it, it won’t last as long as one that was taken care of. I know jeeps that have had over 100,000 miles on them and they are 4 cylinders.

Q: How are insurance rates on 2007-2008 Jeep Wranglers? Is it wiser to lease or buy one of these?
I am currently in college and I have always wanted a Jeep Wrangler. My current vehicle is 1999 GMC Jimmy and it continuously has problems. I want to get into something more reliable that also goes well with my active lifestyle. Any other suggestions?

A: Don’t lease a Jeep i dont think your girlfriend will like a Jeep.

Q: Are big and tall people comfortable in Jeep Wranglers? What is the interior like in a Wrangler?
I know that if you’re big and tall, some cars work better for you than others.

How is this with regard to the Jeep Wrangler?

A: what are you asking for go to a dealership and sit in one.

Q: Are there older jeep wranglers with automatic transmission?
I really want to get a jeep as my first vehicle, but as my parents do not have a vehicle with a manual transmission, id either have to get my friend to teach me, or try to learn it myself (and hoping not to ruin the engine), so i just want to know if there are any older jeep wranglers that are automatic.
by older, i mean like 1990s. my parents are only willing to spend $5,000 for a vehicle.

A: Yeah of course, but driving stick is easy, you are not going to ruin anything if you have someone teach you who knows what they are doing. it only takes like 2 hours to learn, and 2 days to get it down smooth. get a jeep wrangler for what its meant for dude, dont be scared of it.

Q: What are the three most gay colours on Jeep Wranglers?
And no i dont mean ‘gay’ as in the worst, I mean gay as in not straight. Well, black, obviously, but what are the top three colours? Are other Jeeps considered gay cars also?
Please understand, this is not a criticism, I’ve just heard that black wranglers are sort of an icon car and am curious if its the colour and car combined or just the car.
Thanks
so aggressive ladybug? lol. claws in for a minute and lets try not to be so catty. A simple question. If you dont know the answer, you can just say so. i wont think your dumb.

A: Cars have no sexual orientations. They are inanimate objects. Get over it.

Q: Are Jeep Wranglers good to drive on the highway?
I want to buy a Jeep Wrangler Sport but my brother said they aren’t good on the highway? is he just jealous? l0l I drive to work on the highway and it takes me 30 minutes. I drive a lot actually. What do you think?

A: look i will lay it down for you honestly, i have a rubicon with a 4.5 inch lift, running on 35′ super swampers, mine does not get any gas mileage at all, about 9-11mpg. But that was my choice. A stock jeep with 4.0 will get around 16-19mpg. If you are a heavy commuter i would say gas mileage would be the major factor against it. On the upper hand there are many good qualities of a jeep, i don’t know who said it earlier on here “that jeeps are ok off-road” dude they are the best what planet are you from. And friendly stranger was wrong on quality also, jeeps are extremely tough and rugged that’s what they were designed for, no they don’t come with all of the bells and whistles of those fancy commercial cars, but that’s the beauty of it, you don’t need it with a jeep a jeep needs no handicap. They are noisy on the road but what soft top vehicle isn’t, they do have a rough ride, a lot rougher before 1997 when jeeps had leaf spring suspension, after 97 they ran with coil springs, a lot more flex, and a lot smoother ride, but still designed for off-roading. No they are not a waste of money if you want one buy it, they are not cheap. Dangerous yes buthat’sts part of the thrill of having one( look at it this way it’s safer than riding street bikeke). Insurance is not that bad either, of course you may have to shop around for the best deal, but either way its reasonable.

Q: How much do you think 2002 jeep wranglers go for now-a-days? im thinking of buying one?
I really want a jeep but i cant spend that much money on it. how much would you think jeep wranglers several yrs old will go for?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – autoinsurance.noneto.com

Q: are jeep wranglers practical for first cars?
i am absolutely in love with jeep wranglers but i’ve seen many for sale recently and i don’t know if thats a good thing or a bad thing? my parents keep saying they’re not safe because they roll easily, but are they good vehicles? just wondering. i probably won’t be getting a car for another year anyway, but i just love them!

A: Jeep Wranglers are great vehicles. That was my first car a few months ago, and now I am trading it in for another Wrangler. (a newer one thats in better condition. nothing wrong w/ my 1st one). Any SUV can roll over if you drive crazy, but if you drive normally and legally, you’ll be fine. They are great in the winter, (4×4), amazing in the summer with the top down and the doors off. People might be selling them because they don’t get the best gas mileage, but I don’t look at that. I have a job, so my $ goes towards my Wrangler. And not all of it either. Like the previous guy said, get the 4.0L 6 cylinder, the 4 cylinder is way too weak. As for auto vs man transmission, thats up to you. I got an auto because I live in the city and don’t want to mess around shifting gears. Whichever you get, you won’t regret it and you’ll have a blast owning one. Don’t forget to wave to fellow Wrangler owners!

Q: are automatic jeep wranglers bumpy when you drive them?
I’m thinking about getting a jeep wrangler maybe a 2000 or a 2001. It’ll be my first car. I was just wondering if it is a good “driving-everyday” type of car and if it rides smooth or bumpy.

A: Yes it’s bumpy. However, i drive mine almost everyday(2000 Wrangler Sport 4.0L). its my favorite vehicle that my family has to drive around town or elsewhere (we have a chevy truck and a 2004 BMW….. that has to say something about how fun jeeps are to drive they are fun). on smooth roads, its perfectly fine. on rough roads, its bumpy. Its a Jeep Wrangler though. Its a Jeep thing!
O|||||||O

Q: Do you find that jeep wranglers have enough driver space?
I want to get a jeep wrangler in a couple of year and im 6′2 ill probly be around 6′5-6′6ish when i get my jeep. Will i have enough room in the drivers seat cuz some jeeps have little room on the interior

A: The driver and passenger seats are roomy, its the back seat that wasn’t designed for “adults” in mind. Go to a dealership and sit and drive one.

If you’re gonna spend that kind of cash, you should at least check them out in person. Personally, I love mine

Q: Jeep Wrangler?
I really want to get a Jeep Wrangler as my first car. but ive heard a lot thats it’s not a very good car and its terrible maintenance-wise. is that true????

A: I have owned 5 Jeeps over my life and I have to tell you that I wouldn’t own anything else if I could help it. My last wrangler I owned for 10 years and put over 200,000 hard miles on it. (I like to wheel and go to moab often) the key to the longevity of my Jeep was that I took care of it and performed all the maintenance regularly. Right now I own a 95 grand cherokee and have had it for nearly 6 years and it has been an amazing vehicle.

There are years where jeep built a better jeep than others. I would say any wrangler 93 or newer with fuel injection will be a better jeep than a wrangler than one that is older and carburated.

Basically if you buy a new jeep and take care of it, it will last as long as you want. If you buy a used jeep take your time and pick one that looks like it has been taken care of, or what I did was since my wrangler had such high miles I had a maintenance log that showed that I took care of it.

Good luck!!

Q: jeep wrangler?
I hate when other wrangler owners don’t do the “jeep wave”! I want to confiscate their jeeps when they don’t!

A: Real Jeeps have round headlights…

Q: Jeep wrangler?????????????????????
How are the new jeep wranglers 07-09 alike and different from the older jeep wranglers 97–06

A: The new Jeeps have a 4-door option which the old ones don’t. The new ones also get better mpg compared to the old ones and also the old ones have the I-4 which has no power. People who usually own an older jeep take more pride in their rig compared to the new owners. If you are looking for after-market things, I found out that the newer Jeeps have products cheaper than TJ’s. For looks, I think the older models look way better than the new ones and who really goes off-roading in a 4-door Jeep? SWB Jeeps can go through pretty much anything while a 4-door jeep has a higher chance of bottoming out.

Q: 1988 Jeep Wrangler shuts down when key is released from start position?
I have an 88 Jeep Wrangler. When the key is turned into the start position the engine will start. As soon as the key is released into the on position the engine will shut down. Electrical power is still available. It will stay running as long as the key remains in the start position. Could this be the ignition module?
I have tried swapping the ignition on the steering column with no luck. Is there another ignition switch in the system?

A: Turn ign to on. Check with test light for power at the ign switch terminal that feeds ignition. Sounds as if no power getting to ignition system.

Q: What is the difference between a Jeep CJ7 and a Jeep Wrangler?
I am looking for a used Jeep Wrangler and my dad’s friend says he as a Jeep CJ7 for sale. I looked online and the CJ7 looks exactly like a Wrangler to me. Is there a difference or is it the same thing or what? Please help.

A: cj/7 s are older , there are alot of things that make them different, l;ike the size of them , where the turn lights are, the boxyness of the body, im not sure but i dont think they ever put fuel injection on the cj’s but dont qoute me on that, the tailgates are different, im trying to put a cj/7 tailgate on my yj, up until 97 the wrangler had square headlights, just alot of stuff like that, go with a wrangler, unless you arent to picky about the ride comfort. everyone knows jeeps arent the most comfortable ride but the cj’s are alot worse then the wrangler.

Q: What does a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited cost in the Philipppines?
Hi all!

I currently live in the US and I own a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I plan to move to the Philippines in a year or two and would love to bring it with me. However, from my research, I’ve found that shipping and 100% tariffs would make this impossible.

So, how much money (in PhP or US$) would it take to buy a new one in the Philippines? Or, could you suggest a good substitute 4X4?

Thanks!

A: you might get an idea from this site. it has secondhand ones for sale. one good thing is that gas is cheap .a negative is that genuine parts are hard to come by. the value of the doller against the peso has virtually halved in recent years………….hope it comes back up by the time u travel……………….mostly people in the phillipines drive second hand japanese imports……….even similar models to the jeep 4×4 . there isa good supply of parts. probably ur best option would be to sell ur jeep and condider buyinga toyota or mitsubishi when u arrive. they really do last.

http://ph.88db.com/ph/Services/Ad_search.listing?Q=jeeps&O=post hope this is helpful

Q: How much is insurance on a jeep wrangler for a male beginning driver?
Is anyone a male driver around 16 who drives a jeep wrangler and knows how much on average the insurance will be?

A: well is depends on your credit scrore. and the model , year , style of the jeep that you’re gonna drive on . call around the insurance company and ask for a quote .. they will be happy to give it to you . i would recommend that you should go under your parent policy. being a new driver is so expensive to get insurance . almost cost you a monthly car payment . my guess is around $130 and up per month just for liability only . good luck

Q: How much would insurance cost for a jeep wrangler?
I want a jeep wrangler (either yj or tj) and I was wanting to know how much insurance would cost for a new driver (between 16 and 18 years old). I would like a number answer if possible. Just trying to get actual prices. Thanks.

A: I had a 97 Jeep Wrangler with full coverage insurance on it and it cost-ed me $265.00 per month. Wranglers are expensive to insure because they are a high theft vehicle and a roll over risk for young drivers. You can check to see exactly what it would cost you by going to www.progressive.com and entering all your information and requesting a quote. It is a fast and free way to see just how much it will cost you because it is different from state to state. Hope I have been helpful.

Q: What transmission is better for a Jeep Wrangler, Automatic or Manual?
I see hardcore offroad Jeeps (big lift, big tires, etc.) that have automatin transmissions, but all I here from my friends is that a manual transmission is way better. Can someone please help me or give me some insight on the pros and cons of these two transmissions for the Jeep Wrangler.

A: I have a 1989 Wrangler with an auto and a 2001 with a manual,I like the auto when 4wheelin.When 4wheelin with an auto you can focus more on the road and you don’t lose any momentum when shifting.I like the manual for driving around town,I know that this is different from most other people so I guess it is just a personal choice.

Q: Are there ways to reinforce a Jeep Wrangler engine hood so that it could not be broken into?
I am considering buying a Jeep Wrangler for my next car and am worried that engine parts or valuables could be taken due to the ease of opening a Wrangler engine cover. Are there ways to prevent this from happening?

A: Locking hood latches are available for several suppliers. They might help.

Mike

http://thejeepguru.com

Q: How much would getting a jeep wrangler murdered out cost?
I plan on getting an ‘86 to ‘89 jeep wrangler for my first car and I would like to get it murdered (all black, tinted, and wheels black). I like the powder coat color like Rob’s car on Rob and Big. Does anyone know how much this would cost. I’m hoping the paint job will not cost what the car did itself.

A: About tree fiddy.

Q: What is the largest size tire you can put on a jeep wrangler tj without a lift?
What is the largest size tire you can put on a jeep wrangler tj without a lift?
I have 30×9.5 tires on my jeep wrangler right now and they are almost brand new. Is there a place I can trade my tires for bigger ones?

A: You can listen to these “experts” on this site or you can read the tire fit info info I provided for you down below. If you over-stuff your wheel wells you WILL rub while 4 wheeling. The idea is to not rub while wheel’n. You can also rub simply by turning while driving.
Check out the other links too. There is a lot cool stuff for Jeeps. Take your time, save some dough and do it right.

Also…..do your research. I find a lot of stuff and info online.

Q: How do I fix a jeep wrangler 2000 radiator, leaking at the petcock?
I have a jeep wrangler 2000. The radiator is leaking at the petcock. Is it possible to just fix/replace the petcock, or do i need to replace the entire radiator? If so, can you recommend where I can get an inexpensive radiator?

A: Just replace the petcock, your radiator it’s going to be just fine. Good day.

Q: Will a Jeep Wrangler front seat fit into a 1997 Jeep Cherokee?
I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee with a broken driver’s side front seat. I cannot find a replacement. What I do find is plenty of Jeep Wrangler replacement seats for the same year. Will the Wrangler seat fit my 1997 Jeep Cherokee?

A: I doubt it. The wrangler seats are different if i remember correctly. The Cherokee is more a people person car while the wrangler is supposed to be for off roading. I think the wrangler seat is different.

If all else fails just walk into the repair dept. at the jeep Chrysler dealer and ask…

HTH

Q: What should I look for when buying a used Jeep Grand Cherokee?
I am in the market for a used Grand Cherokee 1999-2001 the ones I have been looking at have between 100-130k miles. What questions should I ask and are there any specific things I should look for on the Jeep? Does a laredo have less problems than a limited? Which engine is more reliable and has less problems?

A: Look for something other than a Jeep, like an Acura MDX or a Ford Explorer

In all seriousness though, transmissions in WJ’s (99-04 Grand Cherokees in enthusiast designation) go out in that range, as do differentials, transfer cases, and 4.7L H.O. engines. So the inline 6 will be much more reliable, and get slightly better mileage. This rules out the limited, as it comes standard with a 4.7, though not with the H.O. Oh, steering pumps get expensive too after a while, and figure 2 grand for a transfer case, three for a transmission, and you might get away with 1 for the diff. You will need to replace all three before you hit 150k miles – I have owned several of these vehicles, and regardless of how well I took care of them they all hit problems at the same point. Owning a Jeep is all about the adventure – and after the adventure, you might get to drive it some…seriously, mine have all spent over 25% of their service lives in shops, and all cost more than three times the original purchase price in maintenance (and I had Overlands, so that wasn’t cheap). When they ran, they were great, but that wasn’t often. If you still want one, get all the parts I mentioned inspected, listen for a humming or grinding when coasting as that indicates a bad differential, and listen for a humming when turning as that indicates a bad steering pump and possibly steering cooler. Oh, and one other nasty thing to watch out for – the rear wiper, when it goes, often bends and blows the motor – I have no idea why, but it costs like $250 for the part…

Oh, and my experiences were not all with the same mechanic, one of them I took to a dealer, one to a local chain, and the other to an independent shop. The independent shop was actually the best of the three, but it’s hit or miss with them, as Grand Cherokees have weird parts that a lot of mechanics don’t know how to work on (like aluminum differentials).

Q: What mileage should I look for when buying a used Jeep Cherokee?
I am planning on taking a cross-country road trip this summer, and unfortunately the only thing holding me back is lack of a car to do so. I’m thinking about potentially getting a used Jeep Cherokee, but am unsure as to what mileage is good? If I want to get across the country and back, should I go for something that has less than 100,000 miles? I need help! Thanks

A: its not so much the mileage its whether or not it was abused and if it was maintained properly. check for records of oil and transmission fluid changes. i have seen jeep grand Cherokees go 250000 miles and i have seen a jeep Cherokee that is a mail jeep with 350000 miles come in my shop. its all about the maintenance. foreign cars preach it domestics dont unfortunately

Q: What things to look for when buying used jeep wrangler?
What to check/look for when buying a used 5 speed 4.0L (tj) 1997-1999 jeep wrangler?

Like known engine/mechanical/cosmetic/etc. problems?
also are hardtops only used for security and are jeeps really broken into often with the soft top?

A: Nothing unusual or different about buying a used wrangler. Crawl under and look for signs that it has been used hard offroad – scraping or scarring on skid plates, control arms, axles, etc. Be sure to use all modes and ranges on the transfer case – take it to a dirt lot or sandlot and engage 2 HI (normal driving), 4 HI (never on pavement, sort surfaces like sand, snow, ice only) Neutral (Yes, make sure that works correctly too), and 4 LO (again, never on pavement, soft and rough surfaces only). Other than that make sure all gears work correctly, listen for any sounds from the engine, transmission, and axles while driving. Check all 6 universal joints – nobody ever checks them, they should be replaced every 3 years or so. Check the engine, transmission, transfer case, axles, brake system and hydraulic clutch for leaks. Make sure the clutch engages and releases smoothly and normally. Look down the body to make sure it’s fairly straight. Make sure all 4 tires are, if not the same, at least very close in size and tread type.

Hard tops are quieter and more weather proof, as well as more secure, but nothing is really secure and Jeeps with hardtops can be broken into as easily as any other vehicle. NEVER leave anything in it. Period, end of story, then you’ll never loose anything.

Q: Where do I find used jeep wrangler tops and doors?
I have lloked on ebay and craigslist and junk yards. Anyone know where I can find a good deal on used jeep hard tops and doors?

A: Doors: http://www.jeepthing.biz/pm/Wrangler-Exterior-Jeep-Wrangler-Doors.php

Tops: http://www.jeepthing.biz/pm/Wrangler-Exterior-Jeep-Wrangler-Hard-Tops.php

Q: Is it a good idea to buy a used jeep with a lift?
I am looking at a used 02′ Jeep Wrangler from a dealer. It is a soft top and the car seems to be in overall pretty good condition. I noticed that it has wheels and tires that are wider than stock and seems to have a suspension lift. The lights and stereo have also been modified. I am going to use this car as my daily driver. Would the suspension be something to worry about when buying this car?

A: I love jeeps, but unless you are planning on some serious off roading i wouldnt go for one with a lift. Just the regular stock suspension on a jeep is good enough to get you through the snow in winter and to do some basic off roading. Since you are saying as a daily driver a lift is something you really wouldnt need.
Problem with lift kits is that unless they are done right the vehicle might ride like crap. Parts might wear out faster. now if it has been lifted right by someone who knows what they are doing you probably wouldnt have any problems with it. If you do decide to go with this jeep just test drive it quite a while, try to feel for any unusual vibrations and to see if it rides smoothly. Get it checked out good by a 3rd party. Make certain they go over the suspension well.
Also larger tires and lift kits will make it use more gas.

Q: Do you know of a good used Jeep Wrangler in Florida?
I am looking for a decent used Jeep Wrangler. I want a 6 cylinder but would consider others. I am in the Orlando area but will travel for the right Jeep. I would like it to have a top so I can drive in the rain. I am looking to spend $2000 but will spend more if the Jeep is worth it. Thanks.

A: http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/1024201044.html

Try craigslist, there are tons in your area

Q: How much would a used jeep wrangler cost?
http://www.suvexperience.com/includes/images/Jeep_Wrangler/2000jeepwranglersport.jpg

I am in love with this car.
Everything about it, i love.

how much do you think this would cost if it were used?
and what exact model do you think it is?

A: No more than 5000 dollars.

Q: how much does a used Jeep Wrangler Rubicon King cost?
does anybody know about how much a used Jeep Wrangler Rubicon King cost? or just about the average cost of a jeep wrangler thats used? it doesn’t have to be in the best condition. just so long as it runs nicely. average price?

A: Around 20 grand! No more than that.

Q: How much is a Used 2001 Jeep Wrangler SE cost?
How much does a 2001 or 2002 Used Jeep Wrangler SE cost?

A: you can find one with just under 100K miles for around $10-12,000ish. depending on how high of quality you want it. if it’s going to be a toy, you can find a modded one for about $10K and talk em down to about $9K. On the other hand, your looking at about $12K for a good quality, no hassle daily driver.

Q: I plan to purchase a used Jeep Liberty this summer. How Will I get the best deal?
Should I trade in my current car or should I walk in and negotiate the price I want without a trade in?

Also, there is a Jeep Liberty Renegade I have my eyes on that is listed at $14,900. What’s the lowest reasonable offer that I should offer for this and still be taken seriously?

Thank you!

A: You’ll get the best deal by not buying it…the Jeep Liberty was just named one of the ten worst vehicles by Consumer reports. Buy something that’s not garbage.

Q: How do I go about buying a used Jeep Wrangler?
I’m a 22 year old guy from Michigan and I have wanted a Jeep ever since I first began driving. I’ve saved up around 5,000 to spend on one. I’m looking for a jeep thats a 94 to a 98 with under 120,000 miles and in decent condition with either a 2.8 4-cylinder or the 4.0 6-cyclinder. I have searched for about a week and I have yet to find a good buy. I’m not looking to mod it into an off-road vehicle maybe a small lift and some larger tires but thats about it. My question is what should I look for when buying one and how do I tell what its really worth (aside from blue book value, there’s always debate on what the condition of the car really is in). Can someone give me any pointers?

A: First off, if you are having no luck in finding a Wrangler around your area, you can try searching http://www.autotrader.com . They have a listing of Jeeps for sale around your area as well as up to 300 miles away, if you are willing to travel. It would be a good idea if you have a friend who is a mechanic to go with you and check the Jeep out for mechanical problems. Although most Jeeps are pretty reliable, there are a few people who dog them to death when they have them. You should look for rust, oil/fluid leaks under the Jeep, look for any dents under the undercarriage (this indicates that it has been off road and may have some damage underneath), look for oil on the motor, etc. Always test drive a vehicle before buying. If it doesn’t crank or run good, don’t get it. There’s probably more trouble there than you are wanting to repair. Also, if the dealer says that you cannot test drive it, don’t bother with it, just walk away. Use your common sense, if it doesn’t look or run good, it probably isn’t worth your time.

As for the value of the Jeep, get as much information as possible about the Jeep before you buy it and do a little research, such as on http://www.kbb.com to find out how much it should be worth.

I wouldn’t buy from an auction. The thing with auctions is you don’t know what you are going to get until you have already purchased it.

Hope this helps.

Q: What is a trustworthy used jeep dealership in Seattle?
Looking too buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee 97-01, if anyone knows of any good dealers it would be greatly appreciated!

A: Buy from a private party so you get service records.

Q: what questions should you ask when buying an used jeep wrangler from a private owner?
i know what to ask about another kind of car but i know jeep are a diff. league of 4×4…
ok i have a appiontment this weekend to look at it and drive it..what is something to look for that a very inexperience person can spot?? how would you test it? examples?

A: Check the drive-train, transfer-case, u-joints. If the vehicle was well cared for it should not leak or burn oil. Older 4L’s tended to sweat oil around the valve covers a bit. But you don’t want any major drips from the rear main bearings. A good piece of advice I once heard was to let the owner drive while you are a passenger. If they beat the hell out of the car, you may not want to buy it.

They commonly rust a bit around the kick panels and window frames so look there for problems depending on the age. I had to put a new window frame in my YJ myself since the old one rotted out.

Check the extra tops for the Jeep if you get some with it, soft tops will wear out over time and start to tear.

Hope this helps
Wolf

Q: What song is used in jeep commercial?
this commercial just came out for the memorial day for the jeep cars. i was wounder what song that is that they used?

A: “Time of Our Lives” by Paul Van Dyke

Q: How much would a used jeep liberty be?
i’m 16 and i’m looking for a car! i’ve always wanted a jeep, i love them. so i looked at the 2009 jeep liberty & i loved it. but it’s way too much money so how much would like an old version of it be? (2004, 2005, 2006)
actually, if it’s cheaper to get a 2002 jeep liberty, then that’s okay too.

A: I’d find a nice used Jeep Cherokee (not the Grand Cherokee) It will have the beloved 4.0 inline six which will run 300,000+ miles. Also, It will have a solid front axle instead of the weak Independent front suspension of the Liberty. A solid front axle will give you improved off road capabilities and also be stronger to hold larger tires/lift. Long Live the XJ!!

A great article on the Dodge Charger

Q: Dodge Charger?
I found a 72′ Dodge Charger for $3000 and i can do a lot of work myself on it. What is it worth when it is all fixed up?

A: As a Muscle car collector I can tell you that True documented muscle cars are bringing high dollars, they are bringing in premium prices. The muscle cars I buy and sell are worth between $150′000 and $350′000. Who said they are not at a premium. In fact, I just sold my very rare Yenko Chevelle because the prices are so good. Here’s the hitch, most people can’t or won’t lay out that much for an original that they probably shouldn’t drive. So the next best thing is to build a clone. How do you clone? You get a cheap version of the car you like and build it up as a tribute to a high dollar Muscle car. Now, you have something cool and something you can drive. Clone car prices are on the rise which makes the originals even worth more to collectors. Now, I am assuming yours is a plain Jane type. Production numbers run like this: 2dr cpe 7′803, 2dr ht 45′361, 2dr SE ht 22′430. The highest hp engine was the 440 and was rated @ 280 hp. Nothing there to attract many collectors, thus lowering the value to them. I know, for all you Mopar nuts out there, the 440 six-pack was offered in the brochure, but was canceled before initial production. I need more info as to what might be special about your particular car. Is it a Rallye? 440? How many original miles? I will give you the high, low and middle ground. If you clone something cool or turn it into a street rod, you could catch the right crowd and it could sell for up to 3 times the restored value. Restored, with the limited info you gave us to go on…. Assuming that you took everything apart and did it right, Low is $10′000, high $16′000. Factory cars with 280 hp at the most just aren’t anything that special when it come to collecting them. Unless there is something unique about them. Okay, if your car is one of the 7′803 2dr cpe, and has tons of options and was the right color and….. well you get the drift, then it might stand a chance of being a well sought after car in the future. My advice, have fun with it now, worry about the rest later. Forget the prices they quote you out of books. Look around your area of state. What are similar cars selling for. Look on line, look at auctions. DON’T take my word as gold, because you didn’t give us very much info to go on. What’s the most you would pay for a car from the 50’s? $150′00? $250′00? Barrett Jackson Auction sold Howard Hugh’s car for $1.5 million, because it was something special. So, do the research, break your Vin down, and your data plate, check out how rare it actually is, then you’ll have a better idea.

Q: Dodge charger?
Will a dodge charger with under 100k miles, year 2005-2007 be under 6000$ in 2-2.5 years?
Right now i found a 2006 with 29k miles on it in good cond. and it was 11,000$, Will the value go down with the new 08 charger and the new challenger?

A: It doesn’t matter that the new challlenger is coming out… the older it gets the more the value is going to go down. If it’s worth 11 now.. it may be around 6 in 2.5 years

Q: dodge charger?
i just got a dodge charger base 2.7 model which i regret getting now i should have went w/ the rt cuz im used to the way my tc used to take off …..even though i really like the car what can i do to give it little bit more horse power that wouldn’t hurt my pockets??????????

A: there’s not a lot that you can do for the 2.7 engine to boost the power of it a lot,it will pretty much run like it is but if you modify those sometimes its hurts the running of them rather than help it,really not much you can do to help that one, good luck.

Q: DODGE CHARGER?????!!?
Does anyone have a black Dodge Charger?? I might be geting one in the near future and I love them!!! Do they ride smoothly??! Ever had any problems? And would you reccomend me getting one too?

A: the charger is a chicks car. i started seeing more girls and old people driving the charger, challenger, camaro more than the mustang these days, plus it has 4 doors.

Q: How is a 2006 dodge charger in the winter?
I live in iowa and we can get a lot of snow in the winter. I know the charger is rear wheel drive but i was told buy some people that it has traction control and it helps in the winter. What are your thoughts on the performance of a new dodge charger in the winter?

A: RWD Chargers, Magnum’s & 300’s are pretty stable in winter driving conditions with ESP and if you add 4 winter tires to the car.

However, the Dodge Charger has come out with a AWD version for 2007 like the Magnum & 300’s. These AWD versions are incredible in the snow and ice!

Q: Does the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Caliber have bad blind spots?
My mom is letting me get a car this summer, and she is only going to let me get one if they don’t have horrible blind spots. She is going to let me get either the Dodge Charger or the Caliber. Right now, she has a PT Cruiser, and it has the worst blind spots ever! Please give me the best info you can. I am leaning more towards the Dodge Charger!

A: for thos ethat like the pt cruiser…I say it is fine if they are enjoying that type of body style…but I believe it is dodges worse vehicle to be on the road…as for the charger …it is possibly the best car for you out there …it has an excellent safety rating(even car&driver magazine agrees)..but for a new driver it is a fun and easy car for all to drive..it is one of the best combinations of fun safety and ride and drive around…and as all vehicles may have blind spots….I believe you will find charger is even good to see rear ..side ..and front views for all…the rear glass is a little more slant view from rear view but is set to the ground right by thhe body to see very good all around…pt cruiser on the other hand is a driving hazard for operator as well as everyone else on road…even from front windshield it is rediculous they cause accidents…it reminds me of the earliest cars that you can barely see out of them enough to do anything but guess your distance to obsticles or other motorist..she should do you and us all a favor and trade it in and get you and her both a new dodge..they offer a big discount when doing this ..and you both will be happier and safer…good luck and hope you get charger…you will love it…

Q: How much did a Dodge Charger cost in 1977?
I am looking for a price of a dodge charger in 1977. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A: Buy the Hemmings book at any bookstore. You will have a large selection of Chargers to choose from. Starting off with the original 1968 muscle car with the (383) (440) and the famous Hemi motor.

Q: What is good engine for my 69 dodge charger?
Does anyone know an engine that
Would be good for my 69 dodge charger. A list would be very helpful.

A: First off due you want to keep it stock or custom. Second do you care about gas mileage and performance or do you want a resto-rod with all new up to date systems. You can use any of the following engines for either construction. 426 Hemi, 383, 440, 318 are all good engines for what you want. Third do you want to race it? I prefer the resto-rod setup. I would use a 440 fuel injected and possibly with a turbo. This gives you good power as well as better gas mileage then came with the original engine. If cost is involved go with the 318 fuel injected and add the turbo. This can be a real screamer. The 318/340/360 engines are available just about everywhere. The 440 is harder to find and was first made as a truck engine for Dodge trucks. The 383 was the same but is harder to work on. Both give good performance. You can contact MoPar Parts and they will help you. There are after market items you can purchase that will also help performance. Have you thought about what type of transmission you wish to use? I would suggest the older 727 torque flight, it would work well with any of the engines and very strong. Also one of the newer 6 speed manual are quite good with a newer shifter kit added. If you go with the manual don’t forget the pistol grip shifter. What ever you decide remember MoPar FOREVER!!!!

Q: Is it possible to change the transmission on a Dodge Charger from semi-automatic to a full manual?
I’ am basically saying if it’s possible to use a transmission from a Dodge Challenger SRT8 and install it on a Dodge Charger R/T. Thank you.

A: if you have the donor car yes.

you would have to change the trans, pedals, rear end, axles, drive shaft, and out hub bearings. then get a Diablo Predator and take it to a tuner to work out the electrical kinks.
it has been done a couple of times.

Q: How to make a 2006 Dodge Charger look good?
So im about to get a 2006 Dodge Charger and I plan on tricking it out. What all kinds of different things should I do to make the car tricked out? I already plan on adding wheels (Rims), tinted windows, lambo doors, and a stereo system. Is there anything else I should do to it or do I have everything covered?

A: ENGINE UPGRADES ALL THE WAY. . . . forget the lambo doors . . make that thing crank 600 horses of pure muscle thats what mopars are made for. . not throwing big ass rims on it so it can get broken into and stolen

Q: How much should I pay for a 1973 dodge charger?
My dream car is a 1973 dodge charger, and I am planning on buying a used one, but I don’t know how much to pay. That and any other infoation about this car, wouldd be great.

A: you,ll have to wait and actually see what you find, a good one for those cars are selling anywhere from 1500 bucks all the way up to 5-6 grand just for one to restore right now,the better the condition of one you find the more you,ll have to pay for it but the less work you,ll have to do to it,good luck

Q: If you add dual flowmasters to your Dodge Charger will your warranty get voided?
I just bought a 2009 Dodge Charger. I want to add a Viper alarm/remote start and dual flowmasters. Will Dodge void my warranty because I added the remote start and the dual flowmasters to the car?

A: no they wont void the warranty just because you added those things to it,anything that affects the emission system might void it but adding mufflers wont void it nor will the remote start, good luck.

Q: what can i do to improve the performance of my dodge charger?
My car is a 2006 dodge charger sxt. It has a 3.5 liter v6 engine with 250 hp. What are some things i could do to it to make it faster. Some one told me i should chip it but i’m not sure how much that would improve performance. Please give me some suggestions and maybe prices of what some performance parts would cost. And please no comments saying that i should have got a v8 charger, because they costed way more and just weren’t an option.

A: add you a programmer to it, it allows you to gain in rpm,s and also over ride the top end of it as well as advance the timing and alter the fuel air ratio on it,that’s the best bang you can get for your money these days on adding horse power to them, don’t waste your time though on a chip for that car their useless, good luck.

Q: Dodge Charger with navigation system how do you change clock?
I can’t figure out how to change the clock on my Dodge Charger with the Navigation system screen in the dash.

A: Open your owners manual and read. I am positive its in there. If not take it to the dealer and have them show you.

Q: where can i find a 1969 dodge charger in southern california?
I want to find a 1969 Dodge charger preferably already made to look like the general lee for 5,000 or less.

A: craigslist and ebay try driving down in old country roads , but good luck finding one lol its hard plus they cost more than that

Q: How much would a 69 dodge charger cost?
A 69 charger that has a good paint job pretty good running engine nice enterior like the seats

A: bruce willis is selling one for 30,000 quid and it is specialy tuned on E bay

Q: where can i find a 69 dodge charger?
i live in calgary alberta canada and ive been looking on autotrader for a classic 69 charger but all the ones i find are 60,70 thousand dollars. anybody know any sites or places where there are classics for a bit cheaper?

A: if you want to get littlee engine grease under your finger nails try craigslist…you might be able to find one in decent or fair condition that needs a little TLC

Q: Where can I buy a 69 Dodge Charger grille insert for my 2009 Dodge Challenger?
I have a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T and I have been looking online for a grille insert that resembles the old 1969 Dodge Charger headlight look, where the grille spans the entire front end and the headlights are behind the grille. Does anyone know if there is such a thing out there?

A: No one makes one there hoss. You will have to stick with the grill you currently have.

Q: does anyone have a 69 dodge charger they want hauled off?
i been looking for a 69 dodge charger body for about 10 years…i am from a low income family so i cant just buy one…i looking for someone who has one they just want rid of….no motor or trans is fine…this is my dream car and would really love to have one as a project car…i will come to u to pick it up…can someone please help?

A: Yes boss, Ihave a couple old mopars in the back 40 just sitting there. You can have one free of charge. I have a 69 charger to if you want it.

Q: How do I modify my ‘69 Dodge Charger “the General Lee” to jump cars WITHOUT breaking apart on landing?
This is the 4th. time I had to re-weld the body, replace the suspension/tires, replace the axle and fix both the oil and transmission pan!
Whoo! I like how you think with the truck frame under the body. maybe maybe.

A: Put the unibody on a Ramcharger frame with 44″ tires. That’s your only chance.

Q: what would be a good engine for a 69 dodge charger general lee?
i saw an old general lee on the side of the road and i would bet it dosent run plus i would like a more modern engine, so what do you think would be a good engine im thinking a 1990-2005 model maybe a hemi or a some type of chevy engine i want the same if not better than original power of the old engine, ANSWER FAST IM IMPATIENT.

A: built 440 3/4 cam police interceptor headers fuel injection this will be so fast it will change your heartbeat, and it will fry rear tires off easily every week end.

Q: I want a ‘69 Dodge Charger in good nick for project. Live in Ireland. Want to get it for a good price ? ? ?
I want a manual transmission and a live engine if possible. Where can i get this at a good price and into Ireland?

A: good luck even finding this car at all its really rare and very valuable i’ve been looking for one for over 6 years and still haven’t found one …(live in the usa) … i have seen these cars go for $30-90 thusand dollars here in the usa but if you want a 69 dodge charger daytona u probly want find one for any less than 150,000 in the usa

Q: cross jetting carb on a 69 dodge charger?
can i cross jet the primaries on my 383 mag. with a 600 cfm holley and a purple cam. i want to run a 64 and a 67. anyone benefit from cross jetting?

A: First of all tuning is much more than changing Jets and Cams.
What RPM are you trying to achieve best results. You may need a couple set of Plugs and Try numerous sets. Remember the spark plugs are the best way to tell how lean or rich it is. The accelerator pump cams deliver different results as to how much fuel and how quickly it squirts the fuel in. You can adjust the cam by changing the gap and then trying to match that to a ramp that you like. Drag Racing, Street Racing and Roadcourse may require you to have several different setups for your vehicle.

Q: Air Drag of the 69 Dodge Charger / General Lee?
I’m trying to find the air drag of the 69 dodge charger most notable from the Dukes of Hazard. However, i need the drag coefficient of the vehicle. Can anyone help? :O

A: i doubt that you,ll find this but use all par’s web site and see if they list the specs on this,i don’t think there was an air drag test ever really done on the dukes car, they really wasn’t to concerned with that back when those cars was built, good luck.

Q: Where can I find parts for a 69 dodge charger in the U.K?
My dodge is in SERIOUS NEED of a new engine, an im wonderin if there r any dealers that sell in the U.K

A: all US speed shops sell overseas ( not as expensive to ship as you would think ) try www.summitracing.com

Q: I bought a Hot Wheels 1:43 Scale ‘69 Dodge Charger, but the package says Ford. Does that raise the value?
Are there any reliable collectors I can contact?

A: mispacked toys are always worth the same or less (and usually much less) than the correctly carded ones.

Q: any one got 69 dodge charger parts they want to sell will pay $$$?
i want to get together my 69 dodge charger and i need parts

A: Check hemmings.com and the wrecking yards. Many of the wrecking yards advertise on line . Unfortunately most of those cars were scrapped years ago so you will not have an easy time.

Q: Which car is the hottest 2006 Mustang or 69 Dodge charger?
For me I love them both because they both are burning hot.

A: The 69 Charger, with a 426 Hemi and a 4 speed transmission…

Q: Are 68-69 dodge charger grilles interchangeable?
Is it possible to switch out a 1969 dodge charger grille with a 68 model one?
(I dislike the 69 grilles very much, too many dukes of hazards look-a-likes, and because I like 68 grille and 69 taillights.

A: Yes, they did that all the time on the Dukes of hazzard, the grills are interchangeable.

Q: dodge dakota?
I have a 2004 dodge dakota, i think i accidentally hit the airbag sensor because the airbag light is on and wont turn off. I have tried unhooking the battery and i have checked both the fuses, and they are both good. Anybody know what i can do to fix it? and if how much would it cost?

A: Take it into your local Dodge dealer, should run less than 100 bucks to diagnose it.

Q: Dodge Dakota??????
I was wondering if a 1997 Dodge Dakota is a good first car? Right now my dad has gave me his F150 that isn’t in the best condition, lets just say it looks like its been used pretty good. Well I really don’t want his truck at all and I found a 97 Dodge Dakota with 133,000 miles on it for a very great price. I just need some opinions on the Dakota and what u think of it. It is smaller then a 97 F150 isn’t it and if by how much?

A: My friend has a 97 Dodge Dakota with about 90k miles and it runs great, I think it looks cool and it has pretty good power (his is the V8 Magnum version), It has a ton of space in the truck bed and he hauls his 4 wheeler to races in it. I like it and it seems to get pretty good MPG for a truck (about 24-26 MPG average).

Q: Is a Dodge Dakota bigger or smaller than a Chevrolet Colorado or is it about the same size?
Is a Dodge Dakota bigger or smaller than a Chevrolet Colorado or is it about the same size?

A: it is a little larger than a colorado. the dakota has a larger bed but the colorado has more interior room its really up to you. i think the colorado is cheaper but idk. i am a dodge guy so i would go with the dakota.

Q: What could make a 1996 Dodge Dakota crank sometimes and not others?
I bought a wrecked 1995 Dodge Dakota. (Its not that bad. Just the right fender and light) It will crank once and a while but most of the time it wont crank at all. It always turns over though. The fuel pump is fine and so is the ignition coil. It got hit on the side where the computer is so I’m wondering if I need to replace that. Can anyone offer their opinions? Thanks so much.

A: check all your connections at the battery, the main pos to the starter and your grounds first. ps. to mechanics cranks and turns over mean the same NO offense

Q: How different is an 09 Dodge Dakota engine from the previous year models?
I’d like to put a cold air intake into my 09 Dodge Dakota, but apprently its too new for many after market parts and they only go till 08…
is there a big difference in the engine or will an 08 intake work in my 09?

A: just some advice ,but for now id leave it like it is,altering the way it is now can affect the warranty on it and you,ll be needing the warranty in the future,i think id leave it like it is for now, even if you did add one to it ,i don’t think it would help you much on that one, good luck

Q: Would Dodge Dakota drop spindals work on a 1984 dodge ram pickup?
Would Dodge Dakota drop spindals work on a 1984 dodge ram pickup??? I read in a article that some had done it but wasnt sure if they had to modify or just simply replace the factory spindles. does the suspention up front match up with each other?

A: no the ram and the dakota have two totally different suspensions under them, the ram is considered to be a full size truck while the dakota is a mid sized truck, good luck.

Q: How do I know if my 99 Dodge Dakota got a bad shock? What kind of fluids the shock leak? Are they important?
How do I know if my 99 Dodge Dakota got a bad shock? What kind of fluids the shock leak? Are they important?

A: you,ll notice a slight oil leak coming form the shaft of the shock if its bad, and you can do the bounce test on it and if it bounces over three times it has a bad shock on it,if its busted it needs to be replaced, good luck.

Q: What is the best place to buy a dodge dakota tonneau cover?
I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota. I would prefer to have a hard cover that locks. Problem is that I am a broke college student and need one as inexpensive as possible. What is the best place to find one for a very very low price. Ebay didn’t seem to have much. I dont care if its used, from hong kong, or anything, just cheap. Do you know of any other sites out there that have them for extremely cheap?

A: i bough mine off this site, they had a few of those a while back, and they even shipped it also,i paid 150.00 for it used and shipping was almost 70 bucks ,but its a real close color match to my truck, try this place and see what they have.good luck, http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByVehicle/DODGE edit: check on this site just for a good cheap tonneau cover for it,they have those in stock, good luck, http://autopartswarehouse.com

Q: What the biggest engine 2005 dodge dakota can hold?
I have a 2005 dodge dakota with a V6 and I am currently shopping around for bigger. Possibly a 360? Anyone have any ideas if you can go bigger without much fuss? Also I am fixing to put a lift on it and was wondering whats the best size lift to put on? And with that lift whats the best tire size?
If anyone knows that would be great!

A: the engine compartment is large enough to hold a 5.9 in it with no problems, the only problems you,ll run in to will on the wiring the 05 model isn’t set up for a 5.9 engine, neither is the transmission,as far as lifting it, rancho makes one of the best lift kits available for those trucks, their pricey but do come complete with everything needed to lift it with ,here’s their site, good luck, http://ranchosuspensions.com

Q: How long would a 1996 dodge dakota V8 run for?
Im looking at a 1996 dodge dakota SLT with a 5.2 liter V8, it is a good shape and looks to be very well taken care of. The truck has 144,000 miles on it and i am woundering typicaly how many miles you could put on a truck like this.

A: they last real good if you,ll change the timing chain and gears in them around the 150 thousand mile mark,i own two dakota,s and both of them run real good, both are high mileage, like 220 on one and about 160 on the other one,the only problems you might have from it will be the transmission may give some problems in it around the 200 thousand mile mark,i put one in my truck a few weeks ago,it made it to 220 thousand though, other than that if you,ll keep up with the maintenance on it you should get some more miles from it,no one can say for sure how long the one your buying might last, but they do hold up pretty well, good luck.

Q: How can i get my 99 dodge dakota to sound good?
It’s a 1999 dodge dakota 3.9L v6 sport 4×4 reg cab the truck has a cold air intake that gives a deeper grumbling sound . I was told to use thrush mufflers but i dont know what those sound like. I want it to sound good and not like a bumble bee. what size pipes should i use? what kind of muffler should i use? and will it sound good without headers?

A: While you can change the sound of the V-6, it will never sound like a V-8. What you can do is just put a flowmaster, or magnaflow muffler on the vehicle. It should make it should a bit better than stock.

Q: What could be causing the oil pressure to drop in a 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A friend of mine took his 2000 Dodge Dakota ( automatic transmission ) to a garage to have it repaired because the oil pressure kept dropping, They changed the oil pump and cleaned out the tube connected to the oil pump. Oil pressure was fine while idling in the garage, but when they took it out for a test drive the oil pressure dropped again. So they took the truck to the local Dodge dealership to have them connect it to the computer to see what was wrong with it. Nothing at all showed up on the computer. So the garage still doesn’t know what the problem is. Does anyone have any idea what’s causing the oil pressure to drop?

A: The oil pressure needs to checked with a manual gauge. If it ok, replace the sender. If it is actually low, he has done damage to the bearings. This is most likely the case if the oil pressure is ok at idle but drops when driven. If they had to clean the oil pump pick up, that means that it was sludge starving the engine of oil while he was driving it. This wears the crank shaft bearings and opens up their clearance. With worn bearings the new oil pump may not be able to keep up. It could also have enough sludge in the oil return passages to slow down the drain back. The higher the rpm more oil is circulated and when sludge builds up it returns back to the pan slower. This can cause the oil pump to suck air and the pressure to drop out. The original shop should have started by checking the pressure with a manual gauge . When they replaced the oil pump they also should have removed some rod caps and main caps to check the bearing wear and crank shaft condition.

Q: What is the life expectancy of a 2002 Dodge Dakota V8?
I am thinking of buying a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport V8 for $4,500 and I want to know if it’s worth it. It has 103,000 miles on it and seems to be well kept.

A: there’s no set time on when its going to die out or break down on you,all this is going to depend on how well it was maintained before you bought it,and how well you take care of it,i own an 03 model that only had 85 thousand on it when i bought it and the transmission was already out of it,so you cant go by year or mileage on them, when you buy a used vehicle its a gamble either way with it,good luck.

Q: How much would it cost to insure a dodge Dakota V8?
I was wondering how much it would cost to insure a dodge dakota (1997-2004) with a v8 for a new driver (between 16 and 18 years old). Also how much would it cost for the same thing with a v6? I would like answers with numbers if possible. Thanks.

A: when i was 16 and first got my license i had a 95 1500 with a v8 and it was 1800 a year so i doubt it would be more than that and that was only 2 years ago good luck

Q: What size are the front and back speakers in my 97 dodge dakota sport?
I have a 97′ dodge dakota and the speakers are HORRIBLE! So I need to get some new ones but I don’t know what sizes.. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
.

A: Front are 6-3/4″
Rear are 5-1/4″.

I just want to know what is the difference between a regular 2002 camaro and z28 2002 camaro!

Thank you in advance m8 =).

A: read this it will give you all the details, this is the 2000 z28
http://www.thecarconnection.com/fullreview/chevrolet_camaro_2000
just the 2002 camaro camaro http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/camaro/2002/consumerreview.html
It’s best to read as there are many little differences between the two and am not sure what your wanting. Both sites give you a run down on the conusmer review and the differences between the two, including seat configuration and engine output.

Q: What is the difference between a Chevy Camaro and a Camaro RS?
I need to know the difference between the trim of a regular Camaro and a RS. Thank You.
This is a 1997 Chevy Camaro Z28 clone w/ T-tops.

A: Camaro – base model which comes with a Series II 3800 3.8L V6 engine rated at 200 HP. Prior to 1996, the standard engine was a 3.4L V6 with 160 HP with the 3.8L being an option in mid-1995. A 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic (4L60E) transmission is available. A performance package (Y87) is also available starting in 1996 which includes a posi rear, rear disc brakes, 3.42 gearing in the A4, exhaust pipes/tips on both sides, and sport steering ratio.

RS – appearance package available starting in 1996 for the base Camaro (V6) only. It includes ground effects and an up-level spoiler. “RS” badges are located on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper.

Then, there was the Z28 and the SS above the RS models.

Z28 – high end model which comes with the 5.7L V8 (LT1) engine rated at 285 HP. Prior to 1996, it was 275 HP, but the a second catalytic converter added 10 more HP. A black roof treatment was standard on all 1993 and 1994 Z28s, and 1995 models and later offered a roof that was the same color as the rest of the body as an option. A 6-speed (Borg-Warner T-56) or 4-speed automatic (4L60E) transmission is available. The suspension and brakes are enhanced for improved handling. Two available Preferred Equipment Groups make the car either moderately or fully loaded. “Z28″ badges are located on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. In 1993, an Indy 500 Pace Car version (with automatic transmission) was made with a black and white paint scheme and mutli-colored paint stripes along each side of the car.

SS – available as an upgrade to the Z28 model starting in late-1995 (as a 1996 model). The package include a functional ram air hood scoop and reworked exhaust manifolds resulting in 305 HP and 335 ft-lbs of torque. An optional freer flowing exhaust system brings HP to 315 and torque to 342 ft-lbs. The stock wheels and tires are replaced with 5-spoke 17″ ZR-1 style wheels with 275/40ZR/17 tires. Hurst shifter and Torsen differential were available options. Bilstein shocks, stiffer rate springs/bushings, and a larger front sway bar make up the optional Level-II suspension. The stock spoiler is replaced with sleeker looking one. “SS” badges replace the “Z28″ badges on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. All cars were shipped as stock Z28s to Street Legal Performance (SLP) Engineering where the above modifications were made through 1997. After that, GM made the modifications on its own assembly line.

Q: What is the best way to turn an automatic 1997 Camaro into a standard/manual?
I’ve had my camaro for a few years now, and decided to strip it out, barebone. I also wanted to change it from an automatic to a standard, and I wanted to know the cheapest , most efficient, do-it myself way. I know you can buy a shift kit for a camaro, but is it possible to just go to a junk yard, find an f-body camaro and interchange the manual transmission? Any ideas, helpful hints and links will be amazing.

A: You’ll need to get a bell housing and drive shaft for a manual tranny, and the shift kit, as well as all the clutch parts, and maybe the cross member. It’s been a while, so you might want to do a search on it.

Q: Why does a 2002 camaro z28 beat a 2010 camaro v6 in fuel economy and performance?
The new v6 camaro gets 26 mpg on the highway, 300 hp, and a 0-60 time of 6.1. A 2002 camaro z28 gets 26 mpg highway, 305 hp, and a 0-60 time of 5.3.

A: First off, despite being rated at 305hp, they actually make 350hp. Second, those numbers are ESTIMATES. A lot of variables decide the fuel economy of vehicles.

Q: What’s the difference between the chevy camaro LS and the chevy camaro SS?
I really like the chevy camaro but I’m not sure the difference between the LS and the SS?
I really like the 2010 chevy camaro but I’m not sure the difference between the LS and the SS?

A: The SS is sportier. Check out the details here:

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?year=2010&make=Chevrolet&model=Camaro&trimid=-1

This tells you every detail you need to know, including mpg difference, interior features such as leather wrapped steering wheel, and external features such as fog lights (which do not come on an LS).

Q: What colors did my 83 camaro come stock with?
I have an 83 z28 camaro and its light blue with silver stripes. It has t-tops also. Did this blue come stock? If so what color blue is it or where can I find out? Also, it has a blueish color fabric interior and I’d also like to know the name of that color is. Is there a web site that says the color combinations that came with the car?

A: Nick please use the link posted. This is one of the best camaro sites on the web.Camaro specs, colors, trim and tons of info on your 1983 camaro.Best of luck. http://www.camarosource.ca/main_new_site.php?url=open_new_layout.htm

Q: Does a 1983 Camaro have a shoulder strap for the seatbelt?
I recently bought a 1983 Camaro with T-tops and all there is a lap belt. I have had three Camaros before but none with T- tops and I never been in a Camaro of that year with T-Tops. I looked around the car to see if it was just missing but it doesn’t look like it.

A: 1965 was the first year for seat belts had to be in the car buy law, 1969 was the first year for shoulder belts had to be in the car and again by law.

so yes 1983 camaros do or should have them.

it should be on the b-post just behind where the door closes about half way up the window.

Q: What ignition systems were typically put on a 1978 Camaro RS?
I have a 1978 Camaro RS, but I don’t know what type of ignition it has nor do I have it right now to go look at it. Can anyone tell me what ignition systems were typically put on this year and package of Camaro?

A: it was called an H.E.I. system [ High Energy Ignition] …it contained a ignition module , a pick up coil , a rotor ,a mechanical advance, a distributor cap , & a large ignition coil mounted on the top, with a plastic cover over it. some model,s were equipped with a vacuum advance pod & some were not…they discontinued the vacuum advance because it would move the distributor back & forth effectively breaking the pick up coil wiring , these unit,s were good ignition system,s but were too high in voltage..there were many report,s of spark arcing through the rotor & around the inside of the cap…high temperature,s caused module failure often…the use of a dielectric silicone compound or gel helped to alleviate this problem….I hope this was enough information….good luck with your camaro.

Q: How many MPG does the 2010 Camaro go with automatic transmission?
im planning on getting a 2010 camaro with good mpg. i just want to know.

A: Are you gettin the V6 version?
or the V8 version.

the V8 gets 26mpg
and the V6 gets an average of 29mpg.

Thats really good for a car with 426 horsepower.

Q: 88 camaro 350 tbi stumbles and stuters when i start driving up hills?
88 camaro 350 tbi stumbles and stuters when i start driving up hills or a pass?
i have to pull over every 25feet or so or crawl at like 15 miles an hr to make it up the hill, then i guess its ok on flats but feels pretty sluggish. its almost like its a fuel problem?

A: i would definetly check timing. and fuel pressure

and do a nice tuneup..

maybe get the injectors on the tbi flow tested to see how there working

those tbi units are terrible. ive had nothing but problems with them

FYI: i usually dont bash on other people answers..but sandra obviously has no clue what shes talking about…no carburator because your tbi…from how your describing it is not a transmission problem and i have no clue what else there talking about

Q: By what time will 2010 Camaro be available for a certified buy?
I want to buy a 2010 Certified Chevrolet Camaro. Not a new one, neither a used one. So i wanted to get an idea of how long does it usually take for a car to come to the certified market after it came to the market. 2010 camaro started selling in April 09, so its been 10 months now. How long before it comes to the certified market?

A: they are already out, dealers can get them at the auction and then go through the certification process, there are plenty of them running through the auctions.

Q: My 95 Camaro is missing real bad when I drive since replacing the serpentine belt?
About two weeks ago the serpentine belt on my Camaro snapped upon ignition (it was really cold and the belt was obviously bad). Now when I drive, the car is missing really bad. Almost sounds like a backfire, it shakes all the time (gotten worse over time, wasn’t all that bad at first) and upon start up I smell gas inside the cabin. Is it just out of time real bad or something worse? Please help, I love this car!

A: First of all, there is ABSOLUTELY no need to check the damn timing after putting on ANY serpentine belt. As far as the broken belt knocking off a wire….no! That is impossible on one of those engines be it 6 or 8 cylinder.
Take it to a shop and have it looked at. You either inadvertently disconnected something or you have a new unrelated problem.

Q: What generation era of the Camaro do you all think looks the best?
I have a 3rd Generation Camaro & it’s the awesome small block 350 with some mods. I have the 88 IROC-Z & in my opinion it looks better than the 4th Generation Camaro’s. I like them all except for the 70’s look. Tell me what you all think.

A: i think that the new camaro is hot! but i like the 85-91 camaros better. i have a ‘87 iroc-z with ttops andi love that car….

Q: What kind of modifications will be needed to fit 4l60e out of 95 camaro into 91 camaro rs?
The car it was taken out of is a 1995 Chevy Camaro LT1 5.7L . I want to put it in my 91 Camaro rs 305 tbi. What will i need to do to make this work?

A: I am not sure excactly what you will need but here is a link going over how it was done.

http://www.hotrodlane.cc/Buick%20Regal/ls1grandnationalpg1.htm

Here are some other links that may be of use.

http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu.yCslZIC7IAymhXNyoA?p=4l60e+mount+to+305&fr=fptb-&ei=UTF-8

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=66170

In my oppinion it should be fairly easy, your 91 probably has a 700R4 (these are the same as 4L60e except for electronic shifting) which they put in Camaros from 1984 -1993 .

Is your Transmission in the 1991 bad? Becasue the only difference between the 2 transmissions, that I am aware of is the 4L60e has the electronic shifter.

Q: chevy blazer?
some causes for front end noises in 2005 chevy blazer? and how to fix it?
recently had ball joints, shocks, and sway arm bar replaced. still getting a knocking/banging noise every time I go over bumps on the passenger side front? I even had my mechanic check everything on that side and he found everything to be tight and could not figure out what is causing it.

A: take it to a dealer its under warranty.

Q: Chevy blazer?
i need the firing order for a chevy blazer with a 350 v8 engine

A: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. number 1 is on the left or drivers side of the engine. 1-3-5-7 on the left side. 2-4-6-8 on the right or passenger side.

Q: Chevy Blazer?//?
I’m getting ready to buy a used Chevy Blazer…. i’ve always driven Volvos but because of logistics, I need a 4-wheel drive. Any one have a Blazer, and do you like it???

A: i owned a used blazer 1993 it was a very reliable vehicle with the 4.3 litre vortec which also made this a quick 4wd not a awd(which is useless in really tough snow and sand conditions) when buying any used vehicle its always buyer beware.have a mechanic look it over first.now driving 4wd jimmy because blazer got smashed

Q: How do I get my 2000 Chevy Blazer to stop Squeaking?
I have a 2000 chevy Blazer and had the ball joints, tie rod ends and shocks changed but the thing still squeaks like rusty bed springs when I hit the slightist crack in the road.. I cannot find any grease fittings underneith. What am I missing?

A: sound like it could be a bushing problem you have several bushings under the front, if your sure the noise is coming from the front here are some possible cause’s . control arm bushings the sway bar links and the swar bar bushing also the shock’s have bushing’s . have a machanic spray some good lub on these’s bushings, also us some greese in this bushings sometime’s the bushing’s get dry and need lubed, good luck!!

Q: How do you unlock a 97 Chevy Blazer if the keys are locked in?
I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer and after a long night, I locked the keys in the car. So yeah, if anyone knows and tricks or anything.

A: I own a shop, and I would either use a slim jim or a coat hanger. Most all towing companies have the slim jim’s and will do it for a fee. A lot of cop cars carry them too, so if you know a cop, then maybe he will open it for you. A slim jim works by sliding it down beside the glass on the door, and hooking the lever rod that runs from the front lock knob to the latch on the door, and then just pull up on it and the door unlocks. Wrecker drivers usually have them in their truck so they can pull vehicles off the roadside that people have left there. Call the police, and they can tell you who has them, or they can come help you. We used to haul cars for the state police with our tow trucks is how I know about this. They are considered burglar tools, so not just anyone can have them. A lot of locksmiths have them too. They don’t do any damage like a coat hanger will to the rubber seal around the door. If you have a button for the rear glass on the dash, it may be easier to hit that than unlock the door with the coat hanger.
Glad to help out, Good luck!!!

Q: How much does it cost to fix/ replace a chevy blazer back bumper?
I accidently backed my car into a pole which then cracked the right side of my back bumper. My car is a chevy blazer and I don’t know whether I should get it fixed or replaced. Also how much would it cost to do this?

A: $500

Q: What is the cheapest way to lift a 1993 chevy blazer?
I have a 1993 chevy blazer that I would like to put a 6 inch lift kit on. All the places I’ve looked cost to much. Is it possible to put a front end from another truck similar on it that uses leaf springs?

A: Look, i understand you might be on a budget but if you are wanting to do something like this do it right or dont do it at all. The cheapest way is never the right way. You are doing a major modification to your truck here-you could be putting yourself in danger by trying to do something like this on the cheap.

Also is this the small blazer or the older large blazer? 6″ seems kind of alot for a small blazer. I would go with around 3″. I had a Jeep Wrangler at one time, had a 3″ lift on it. You would be surprised at what a 3″ lift combined with the right tires can do for a vehicle. It doesnt sound like much but it is.

Q: Where do you look for replacement interior parts for Chevy Blazer?
DH has a 92 Full size blazer. He loves it–but the drivers seat badly needs to be replaced. Where do I find one? I can try salvage yards, but will other chevy seats fit this? Thanks!

A: The cool thing about Chevrolet is most parts are interchangeable from year to year. I have a ‘58 chevy pickup, a 91 chevy pickup, a 2001 Chevy pickup, and a 76 Blazer and the seatbolt patterns are all the same. There are several places that make reproduction parts for Chevy/GMC trucks all the way back to the 20’s here are a couple of places to look

www.golden-state-parts.com
www.classicparts.com
www.chevytruckworld.com
www.manestruckparts.com
www.lmctruck.com

Q: How do i replace a directional switch on a Chevy Blazer?
I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer, tilt wheel 4×4
No cruise control
4.3 liter
Airbag

The directional switch needs replaced, do i need a steering wheel puller?
Is it possible to replace this at home without having the airbag go off?
If anyone has any info on this please answer.
Thanks.

A: Do not attempt to do this repair yourself. The air bag must be removed from the steering column in order to do this repair. A very simple repair for a body shop, but a costly and potentially dangerous repair for the amateur. If you do not know what you are doing and cause the airbag to go off, you can kiss an easy $1500 goodbye.

Q: how do you change the transmission fluid in a 2000 chevy blazer?
I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4×4, I want to change the transmission fluid. How do I drain the old transmission fluid?

A: There is only one way to change all of the transmission fluid in any vehicle, and that is a transmission flush. Most flush machines either use the transmissions own fluid pump to provide the pressure to flush the unit.

The alternative is to remove the transmission pan, clean everything (go ahead and replace the transmission filter while you are in there) then reassemble and add fluid.

The problem with a pan drop is that you only really replace about 3-4 quarts of the 8-10 quarts in your transmission. The other 5-6 quarts of fluid are in you torque converter, valve body and lines and cannot be drained out without extensive disassembly. That being said, replacing the 3-4 quarts is better then nothing.

Keep in mind that a transmission filter replacement is usually a maintenance item, and not considered a repair. You don’t replace the filter to fix a transmission that is not shifting or is not working (though sometimes it can restore functionality, usually having starved the transmission of fluid due to a clogged filter will cause irreparable damage)

Good luck,

Q: I have a 98 chevy blazer and the heater never stops blowing hot air, even when off and on cold. Whats up?
I have a 98 chevy blazer and the heater never stops blowing, even when the blower is on off and the thermostat is set on the coldest setting. I always feel hot air blowing. Anyone have an idea whats up with that ?

A: The blend air door may be malfunctioning.

Q: How do you check/add transmission oil in a 98 chevy blazer?
My husband wants to check the transmission oil on our grandmothers 98 Chevy blazer, but he’s only use to Hondas. Any help would be appreciated since she’s too scared to drive it.

A: Just start up the vehicle and let it run for a few minutes. Then take out the dipstick that is for the transmission fluid. It is typically red. Check it a few times and see if it is low or not. If it is grab a funnel that will fit down into the dipstick tube and add the level of tranny fluid that is needed.

Q: where does vacuum start on a 98 chevy blazer?
where could i find a vacuum diagram for a 98 chevy blazer? and were does vacuum start?

A: all vacuum hoses will come out of the intake manifold

Q: Is it difficult to change the intake gasket on a 2001 chevy blazer?
I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer. Every time I pour coolant in there it comes right back out. A car shop told me that I needed to change the intake gasket which is a $60 kit, plus $240 with labor. I think that I can save a lot if I just did it myself. I’m going to give it a try. Is it very hard to do?

A: Let the pros do it. If you make the smallest mistake it may cost you an engine.

Q: How to put an electric fan on a Chevy Blazer?
I have a 2001 chevy blazer. I can’t get the original fan off. I’ve taken all 4 bolts off but it didn’t come off. There is one massive bolt in the center which goes back to the block, but i wasn’t sure if that was the right one. So what do I do now?

A: you sure you took off the right bolts…. and then give it a wacksomethings they are four bolts in the fan and four bolts in the fan clucth either ones it should have come off if you had bump it a bit

A great article on the 2010 Corvette

Q: What is better 2010 corvette Z06 or ZR1 durability wise?
I was just wondering what is better durability wise (I know the zr1 is faster) but who is more durable Z06 or ZR1?

A: well they aint been out long enough to know if they are very durable, expecially the zr1, i would get the z06 as long as you are not planning on putting a supercharger on it, and if you do just dont run high psi, motor trend said chevy thought about putting a supercharged ls7 in the zr1, but backed out cause cylinder walls were to thin

Q: Whats different in the 2010 corvette zr1 and the 2009 zr1?
any help with this question would be nice of you.

A: They changed a few of the options for exterior color, if that really matters.
It’s .3 inches shorter, probably thanks to the 9 lb increase.
And a few other unnoticeable changes.

Nothing drastic

Q: How much does the 2010 corvette grand sport cost?
i really want to get it nd i was wondering how long i would have to save up fr it.

A: Some dealers already have them in stock. Here is one.
http://www.kerbeck.com/kerbeck/kerbeck.nsf/new_corvette_inventory
Looks like $60K for coupes and in the $70K range for verts.

Q: How much is a turbo charger for a corvette convertible 2010?
Hey guys im turning 18 and am curious how much would it cost to put a turbo charger on my corvette to add about 400 hp-600hp and a body kit. Thanks in advance
Thanks guys btw my dad isnt getting me this car its all me. Im gonna get a job that pays over 100k in computers so please dont say im leaching off my parents.

A: You would be better off super charging a Corvette vs turbo charging.

You can put a Procharger on for about $7,000 installed. Go to West Coast Corvettes and check out the options. Magnusson’s are a little more expensive, and will require an after market hood as well. This may not be an issue if you are going with a body kit.

Check out East Coast Superchargers – they do great work. However, unless you don’t care about the warranty on the car, supercharging or turbocharging WILL void the warranty.

You may also want to consider upgrading the brake system to the ZO6 brakes (or comparable aftermarket). That much more horsepower will require better stopping power.

All this being said, I would not do any of the above. Go with a cold air induction unit, long tube headers, hi flow cats and a good exhaust system (recommend Corsa). Better than that, just buy a ZO6 or a ZR1.

Something to consider…A stock C6 Corvette with 436hp will smoke 95% of the cars on the road. The car only weighs 3100lbs. Doing the above will give you about 35-40 more hp which will take care of another 2-3%.

Q: Is GM going to continue to make the ZR1 Corvette for the 2010 model year?
I have heard GM is going to discontinue production of the ZR1 Corvette, is this true?

A: Honestly i havent heard either way…

But as far as business terms go i dont see the benefit of keeping it around since the company is having such money problems…

As far as the money into designing it that isnt much at all to them…you’re probably only talking about ten million or so invested in it..(in big business, thats nothing). When the fact remains that their just isnt a big demand for the vehicle to actually run full production of it.

Right now 90% of consumers are shopping for price and economy… Not high horsepower and high price tags…

Just the way it is… So i’d be surprised if they did anything.. Right now i’m just curious if they will even be around as a company in 2010.

Q: what’s the cost of a 2010 corvette?
I was wondering how much a fully decked out 2010 corvette cost?

A: Coupe-49,000
Convertible-54,000
Coupe Grand Sport-55,000
Grand Sport Convertible-59,000
Z06-75,000
ZR1-107,000
These are all of the models from most inexpensive to expensive. The more expensive you go the more power and extra features!

Q: Which is better? a C6 Corvette or 2010 Chevy Camaro or Nissan 370z and why?
I’m getting a new car and can’t decide which of these cars I should get. In your opinion which car would you rather have and why? Which one would you be more surprised to see? Thanks for your Answers.
Oh yeah, the Corvette would be the basic kind.

A: well, i have a C6 coupe and I love it. I got it with an LS3 that makes430hp and upgraded it with lingenfelter to 570hp. I is fast.If you are going to get one I suggest getting it with the magnetic selective ride control so you can change the softness of the ride. You should get one. it is a great daily driver.

behind that you should get a camaro. the SS version will have an LS2 engine that makes 400. However, it is an old corvette engine used from 05-07 and dropped in 08 for the LS3. The camaro is a beautiful car though. I would get one and it is and in my opinion, will always be a step above the Mustang. the camaro used to also be called the 4-seater corvette.

So i wouldn’t even think of getting a Z because they will never be able to compete with a corvette or even a camaro. It is kind of interesting why people think that the mustang or Z are the fastest cars and they try to race a porche, corvette, or other cars that can easily beat them.

Q: Should I get the 2010 Camaro OR the 2010 or c6 Corvette?
Well also, if possible, I would like some details about the car like what the power is like, how fast, pricing, and general stuff. What do you prefer and which one do you think is best for a flashy car. Personally I like the Camaro but I still want to get all the info from other people as well before making my decision. Thanks guys!

A: imo, you should buy one of each. try them each out for six months and then sell the one you like least.

Q: I have a 1996 impala ss, and was wandering will a set of OEM C6 (2005-2010) corvette wheels rims fit on it?
I dont have a clue?

A: It should, I dont see why not unless you got some really big rims, like 22”. Those might not fit. I would recommend you go and measure the diameter space you have so you get a good idea of how big you can go.

Q: 2010 Camaro SS vs 2010 Corvette?
Ok I want to get a 2010 Camaro SS but I think that the 2010 Corvette is awesome and I really like it to which one is better and why and which one should I get.

A: Just did the comparison myself…

Corvette Z06 is the winner hands down!

Q: Which would you take out of the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette GrandSport Cabrio or 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 Cabrio?
Which car would you rather have and why
i just want to know which car you would rather want to be able to own
im not bothered about insurance so please dont worry about that

The 2010 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible

The 2010 Viper SRT10 Convertible

http://www.boston.com/cars/newsandreviews/overdrive/2009-Dodge-Viper-front.jpg

A: The Viper.

Vettes are a dime a dozen mate.

Edit: Since 2008, Viper V10 produces 600bhp.

Q: Can i put a corvette engine in a 2010 camero?
how much would it cost?

A: you can do anything you want, but if you have to ask that question, you cannot afford it,

Q: what kind of tires does the 2010 corvette zr1 has?

A: Two choices are available from the factory for the 2010 ZR1 and Z06
Standard
RPO XFA Tires, front P275/35ZR18 Eagle F1 Supercar, extended mobility
RPO YFJ Tires, rear P325/30ZR19 Eagle F1 Supercar, extended mobility
Optional
RPO XFG Tires, front P285/30ZR19 Michelin PS2, extended mobility
RPO YPS Tires, rear P335/25ZR20 Michelin PS2, extended mobility

What the boy tony loves to do is give half a answer to a question or a poor one.Only giving the optional tire shows he is to lazy to give a good answer.

Q: how much does it cost to get a 2010 zr1 corvette engine and put it on a 2010 camaro?

A: I would say that even the $25,000.00 including install is a low estimate.
Not sure what the engine from a ZR1 would cost but I know that a LS7 which is going to be much cheaper will cost you $15,000.00 just for the engine not to mention all the other parts you will need to make it work. You would most likely hit the $25,000.00 mark just for the engine and parts for the engine.

So lets just say that you spend 25,000.00 on the 2001 Camaro and another $25,000.00 for the engine and parts do the install your self. You then have a $50,000.00 car why not just buy a ZO6 brand new they are $75,000.00. If you go with a 08 or 09 you could get it for around $50,000.00 The top speed of a ZR1 is not that much better than the Z06.

I would have to say that yes having a 2010 Camaro would be extremely cool it would still be better to have a Z06 Corvette. The Z06 will handle better they look awesome and will get more attention than a 2010 Camaro.

Q: Should I get a 2005 Corvette or 2010 Camaro? Help!?
I’m getting a new car soon and I was just wondering which car over here would you rather have and WHY? A Basic 2005 C6 Corvette or an 2010 LT1 Camaro? I really can’t decide and really need someone else’s opinion. Which one do the ladies prefer? And please dont give me answers saying that american cars suck. Thanks in advance

A: I understand where your coming from. I really think both of them the ladies will like all around. Just get a mean sounding exhaust that can draw their attention when you rev it. Works everytime in my 2002 Trans Am. =]

Honestly, I’d get the Camaro. It’s be under warranty and the overall look interior and exterior is exceptional. I love Corvettes too, but the cost of insurance and replacement parts down the road might cost you a lot.

Q: Chevy Equinox?
I have only owned Chevy pickup trucks. My Z71 is finally paid off, and I wanna get a nice SUV. I have looked at the Equinox’s and love em! Ive never owned anything but a truck and dont know if Id like one or not. What is your opinion on them and goin from a big 4×4 pickup to a small SUV?

A: I just got a Chevy Equinox a few weeks ago. It only has a 6 cylinder, so it will get much better gas MPG than your pickups, but you can’t be towing massive things like your Z71

The interior is nice, the ride is smooth, and so are the shifts.

For an SUV, its a fun car to drive. But unlike other Chevy SUVs, the Equinox is not designed for offroad.

Great car, I like mine

Q: How do I lift the rear seat up on a 2005 Chevy Equinox to access the battery?
I need to lift the seat “up” not fold it down. In order to access the battery which is under the seat of my 2005 Chevy Equinox, but I have been unable to find out how. There is one big lever under the seat, but I cannot use it to lift the seat up. Perhaps it is jammed? Thanks for your help!

A: Under the seat,,,,,,hmmmmmm. Mine was under the hood. All that’s under my backseat is some old M&M’s, and a few pennies.

Q: Will the remote for a 2005 Chevy equinox work with a 2007 pontiac torrent?
Will the keyless remote for a 2005 Chevy equinox work with a 2007 pontiac torrent?

A: There is a slight chance that it could be the same transmitter, but even if it is ,it will have to be taken to a dealership that has a Tech 2 device to program it. Some dealerships will do it for free ,while others have a slight charge

Q: What is the average motor life for the 2005 chevy equinox?
I am considering purchasing a 2005 chevy equinox. I heard they are reliable suvs, my aunt also owns one. But, I would only be able to afford one with over 100,000 miles. How long have you heard or you think the motor will last? How many miles?
Thanks

A: Out of the GM brand I think Chevy is one of the better build quality ones. But still buy Japanese.

Q: What features does the 2006 chevy equinox lose when removeing the factory stereo?
i removed the factory stereo from my chevy equinox 06 and people were telling me that when removing it i would lose features without replacing it with the right harness that has the chimes

the guy told me it lost the check engine light but i think that he just wanted to sell me the 150 dollar wire harness with the little chime adaptar
my question is what features does it lose?

A: HAHAHAHAHAHA Dumbass your car is gona blow up nigga!!!!!!!!!!!! Fck your chime btch my shirt brand new!!!!!

Q: How do I Make My chevy equinox sound just like an infiniti FX?
I love the sound of the Infiniti FX. How do I make my chevy Equinox sound like it? Is it the exhaust or the engine or a combination of a bnunch of things.

Let Me Know

A: Drill a hole in your muffler.

Q: Would a 2006+ Chevy equinox bumper front and rear bumper fit on a 2005 model?
I am trying to get a bumper set for my 05 Equinox but i dont like the material of the 05 model. And I plan to do the labor myself so i’m staying away from the chevy dealership.

A: The 2006 and the 2005 are the same bumper and should fit.

Q: chevy equinox?
do you recommend this car?
pros and cons to this car?

A: get the SS version
my brother got a sport model in the first year of production and had a lot of transmission problems and that was all (but it was the first model year)

Q: How do I install GM cross rails on my 2008 Chevy equinox? Instructions are unclear.?
I just purchased GM Accessory cross rails for my 2008 chevy Equinox and the instructions are unclear. The instructions say to use a flat tool to take the end cap rail off, but it does not show or say how or where to use the tool on the end cap. Does anyone know of any tricks to getthis off? Thanks!

A: There is a good chance the dealer that sold you your equinox will install your cross rails for free. The dealers prep mechanic can install your rails in about five minuites. Please call you sales person and they can help you with your rails.Best of luck with your equinox.

Q: Does anyone drive a Chevy Equinox? If so, are you happy with this vehicle?
I am thinking of purchasing a 2005 Chevy Equinox, does anyone care to share their experience with me, good or bad.

Thank you.

A: Well lets see my Service manager’s bought one for his daughter and my used car manager bought one for his wife. We don’t have a you must buy GM rule in our store so if a used car manager and service manager both bought them its a good sign. We have had few problems with them and I have seen a few bad accidents that the people inside came out fine but it totaled the Equinox. They crash test well I would say buy it.

Q: What should I check if my 2005 Chevy equinox heater won’t turn on?
My 2005 Chevy Equinox heater will not turn on. The blower doesn’t turn on. What fuses and relays should I start with? Any suggestions? Thank you

A: first check your fuses if those are good
check your heater core, if thats not it then check your blower motor..
hope this helps

Q: Why do I have a weird noise coming from the passenger side door speakers of my Chevy Equinox?
There is a static noise, similar to white noise, constantly emitted through the speakers in the passenger’s side door of my Chevy Equinox. Even with the speakers turned all the way down this happens. It gets louder with acceleration and is very annoying. Is something grounding my system out somewhere??? How would I find it? What could it be? The system is all factory – no aftermarket. WTF? thanks

A: From your description it sounds like your audio system is picking up motor noise/interference but why it’s only going to the right side and not all speakers isn’t clear. And I cannot account for how this could happen at all with the “speakers turned all the way off.” No noise at all should be heard if the speakers are truly “off”. Something may be damaged. But static getting louder with acceleration is most likely caused by the alternator or engine coil. After checking all the connections and grounds, I’d start there by getting filters for your alternator and the power line into your system. As you are checking the connections and wires, make sure no wiring is routed near wires and devices that emit RF interference like a heater motor or vehicle computer, etc. The PDF link is more detailed,

Q: Check Engine Light on a 2005 Chevy Equinox?
I own a 2005 Chevy Equinox and recently, a gas attendant broke the gas cap while trying to close it. It took about a week before I could get a new one to replace it and in the mean time, the check engine light came on due to a lack of vacuum pressure. The Light has been on for 1 week now and I know that eventually, it will reset itself but I would rather not wait. Does anyone know a quick way to reset the light that doesn’t involve going to the dealer?

A: You can always disconnect the battery for 1 minute, that usually resets everything – including your clock.

Q: Anyone know the towing capability for a Chevy Equinox?
I’m looking at at some smaller SUVs but have been disappointed with the very small towing cap. The Hyundai Santa Fe has been the favorite so far–with towing package its at 5,000 lbs. Neither the boat I currently have or a boat I can imagine purchasing in the next 5-6 yrs will be that much. Even without the towing pkg, it can still tow 3500 lbs.

But the Hondas max out at around 2,000–which might be too light. Jeeps tow fine but I hate driving a Jeep. Anyone know about the Chevy Equinox? With or without the tow pkg–both would be helpful. Thx.

A: According to 2007 tow ratings from Trailer Life Magazine.
2007 Cheverolet Equinox 4.3L v6 tow rating is 3500 #

Q: How much is my 2007 Chevy Equinox worth?
2007 Chevy Equinox LS (black) with around 26,000 miles on it… what would it be worth approximately?

A: blue book it
